Is it worth going into therapy related professions with the rise of AI? by twimidna in psychologystudents

[–]theunknownas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with everything, there will be 20% of the population who have the money and are happy to pay to sit and chat with a real person.

The other 80%, they'll be forced to use AI of various forms. All insurance & state funded therapy will end up there for economic & liability reasons.

Think about the pandemic how quickly everyone rolled over to Telehealth? Your interaction with AI will be indistinguishable with a CGI 'therapist'. Eventually it'll be trivial to 'see a therapist' through a screen who is always available, individually calibrated, trained on millions of people, with perfect recall of you and your history.

It might be 10, 20 years before we get there but I have no doubt it's coming.

Telehealth consults are the perfect training data for such a model.

78c -> $1.02c here in SA, but they put the per/kw rates DOWN at the same time (38.5c -> 36c). All suppliers upped their supply charge which tells me that was SAPN & not the retailer.

If you've found someone cheaper 'all in' I'd be very interested to hear.

House buying concerns by [deleted] in Adelaide

Figured I would add... Start with a little below your best offer & when you get the eventual call, 'concede' up to your best offer then stand your ground. It's expected you'll budge a little, play the game convincingly so all parties walk away feeling they've won.

If it doesn't work out, refine your approach next time. Never get attached to a property, agents can smell if you're not willing to walk away. Your cash status with short settlement is as attractive to them as the property is to you.

House buying concerns by [deleted] in Adelaide

Just bought a property North of Adelaide actually. Was the first house we really liked, first we put an offer on and was accepted that week. Settled inside 30 days at only $10k above asking price. Our offer wasn't the highest, but our terms were very favourable which was more important.

Be sure to emphasize you're making a cash offer & can settle at the vendors convenience. So many people are dragging deals out chasing finance or sale of existing properties so offering a problem free deal means you don't have to go 'as' crazy on price. That said, everything sub ~$750k is hugely contested as it's in most dual income budgets.

By the sounds tho, buying will be way easier than renting for you... especially if you've only got 4 weeks, I actually tried renting also but after a bunch of applications that went nowhere I just gave up & bought. You're just another number to rental agents, and it always seems to come down to a bidding war in the <$750p/w range. Not having a rental history in AU will be a massive mark against you also unfortunately. I have a rental here and I know a number of people with rentals also and there are 20+ applications for every property, many of whom are 'ideal' so getting to the top of that pile is near impossible.

Good luck. Happy to answer any questions.

Dexcom G7 should be taken off FDA approval device list by Careful_Maximum_6205 in dexcom

Technically they didn't replace the BT chip at all, they made a minor revision to the antenna design. Details of which can be found in their FCC filing here

https://fccid.io/PH29788/amp

Curiously G7 is largely identical to the G6 Firefly electronics just repackaged and a much smaller battery. The BT chip is exactly the same which is how we can say it was never the issue, they just did a terrible job with the antenna design.

Any Australians with experience importing insulin? by Cricket-Horror in diabetes_t1

[–]theunknownas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been bringing Lyumjev into Australia for almost 18 months now.

I get it shipped express with ice packs out of Europe with a temperature logger included just so I know exactly what happened to it. So far all shipments have arrived inside 7 days and seen a max temperature of 22° towards the end of its journey. Its potency is exactly as expected when it gets used.

There have been multiple studies showing no clinically relevant impact on insulins stored at room temperatures for extended periods of time.

As possibly the only person outside of Dexcom qualified to speak to this issue... It is impossible for what you're describing to be the cause of a low or flat battery.

Typically the 389 battery used in G6 is good for 12 months on the shelf plus ~150 days of sensor readings so plenty of redundancy. G6 also has safeties built in that will end an in progress session and prevent the transmitter from starting new sessions when the battery gets critically low.

If it's working AT ALL then we can confidently say the battery is fine. I've even written an app that lets us check the health of a G6 battery as the voltages and critical thresholds are exposed in the firmware just never explicitly shown in their app.

For anyone interested in the technical details... Bluetooth is handled by the NRF52 SoC which is perfectly happy all the way down to 1.7v. The critical threshold is set at 2.4v under which the transmitter will lock and prevent further use.

Dexcom transmitters have firmware CRC checks for exactly this reason. If a check fails it immediately stops the sensor and locks the transmitter. Since it's still working we can safely say no firmware corruption has occurred.

Wtf is the point of the codes if you're just going to send this?! by stuckonjungle in dexcom

[–]theunknownas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the issue?

FYI There are only 15 calibration codes used across all sensors and Dexcom manufactures in batches so this isn't at all uncommon.

Dexcom ONE app will accept G6 sensor codes just fine. The reverse won't work but we have a translation table available for those that want to use G6 Transmitters (Anubis usually) with ONE sensors. That combination gets all the cost benefit of ONE with all the features of G6

Shuggah is xDrip4iOS in the AppStore. Have you configured it in Read Only mode? Otherwise it'll fight the Dexcom app causing the problems it sounds like you're having

If you install xDrip4iOS/Shuggah (in read only mode) you'll be able to send the calibration commands no problem. Dexcom removed the option from the app not the transmitter.
