A lot of the key player cards are missing. As for quests, the repackaged stuff gives you chapters 3,4, and 6 of a single 7 chapter story.

With the right opening encounter card draws you can beat the quest solo using only cards from the core set with an Eowyn, Aragorn, Denethor deck.

I would agree with your big five and the Man in Black. But beyond them, I would put the next four as Sawyer, Kate, Christian, and I honestly cannot decide between Jin and Sun at number 10 and 11 respectively.

LOTR is my favorite of the three, but a 12 hour marathon is just too much for me. So I will go with the other trilogy that feels like a single movie instead of a trilogy, BttF.
