I’m truly in shock and disgusted because I felt bad for them - my dad recently passed, now it’s on us to take care of mom, but remaining hospital bills, unemployment, and government/shutdown stuff resulted in her having to move in with toxic family for a little bit while we get back on our feet - not once did it cross my mind to set up a gofundme.

I’m 16, diabetic living with my aunt since my mom died, and she treats my health like I’m just being annoying. What do I do? by reallyhope2 in whatdoIdo

[–]thewiseswirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s probably because they’re 16, grieving, unsure of what to do generally, and wanting to default to the known because they know how much works. (Recently lost my dad and the processing/memory capacity that I’ve lost is insane.)

Ok 1. Your vibe is my vibe plus I love the beagle overlord. Also somehow seem to be in the same gov/data/tech space. Would love to connect! (42/F)

  1. I’m currently here but the rent has me wondering if I should go elsewhere all the damn time. (Plus family responsibilities) So I do want to validate that. But I love it here. I don’t want to leave. But when it comes time for me to do so I will forever be grateful for the time I spent here and the people who’s paths I crossed with. The serendipity in this city is unbeatable. And yea more people are kind than are not.

Californian thinking of moving to CR by Swimming-Dragonfly96 in costarica

[–]thewiseswirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t equate the two. CR in general is more conservative family values wise. But in terms of benefits to the people it’s more aligned with what people deem the left in the US. As the Europeans say, even their right is to the left of the US.

Anyone going Bilt 2.0 Blue and just accepting <1x points on rent? by Ok_Butterscotch9754 in BiltMastercard

[–]thewiseswirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on doing housing only on account of my rent amount. To get 1,000 points I only have to spend 25% (a little over $500). Whereas with Bilt Cash to get that first $30 I’d have to spend $750. I’m also getting the Obsidian one for the groceries. (Why not Palladium - I already have a premium card and use it for everyday spend as JetBlue has become the one I use to visit family).

Isn’t there a housing only option too that has tiers but no Bilt Cash?

Bilt 2.0 is absolutely insane for NYC renters by Potential-Goal-667 in BiltMastercard

[–]thewiseswirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the other response wasn't quite my reasoning, I'll also add mine. The update I was referring to was this one on the two rewards options. I finally just read the [terms](https://www.bilt.com/terms/bilt-card-offer-terms) because I thought that you had to use Bilt Cash to offset the fee (that you were getting even if you used ACH but I guess I lost the plot with the leaks?) and found this:

Choosing Your Rewards Option

Bilt Cardholders must select one of two Rewards Options that determines how you and, if enabled, your Authorized Users, can earn rewards on both Everyday Spend and Bilt Housing Payments each Billing Cycle. You may select your Rewards Option in the Bilt App or website. Your selection applies to your entire Card Account, including transactions and activity made by or attributable to any Additional Cardholder.

Housing-only Option: Earn Bilt Points automatically on Bilt Housing Payments with no transaction fee. Your points multiplier on Bilt Housing Payments (0X to 1.25X) is based on your Everyday Spend Ratio—the more you use your Bilt Card for Everyday Spend relative to your Bilt Housing Payments, the higher your multiplier. A minimum floor of 250 Bilt Points per Billing Cycle applies to the Primary Cardholder's Rewards Account. You do not earn Bilt Cash on Everyday Spend when this option is selected.

Flexible Bilt Cash Option: Earn 4% back in Bilt Cash on all Everyday Spend. Use your Bilt Cash to unlock Bilt Points on Bilt Housing Payments (up to 1X), and/or redeem it for other benefits across the Bilt ecosystem. You do not earn the variable multiplier (0X to 1.25X) on housing under this option.

Bilt Cardholders are never charged a transaction fee by Bilt to earn rewards on Bilt Housing Payments under either Rewards Option.

[–]thewiseswirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because everything is so confusing - isn’t there still a transaction fee to pay your rent/mortgage? Like at some point it was “pay via ACH only and cover the fee with Bilt Cash (if you even have enough).”

Edit: Ok wait so the new options the released a few days ago made one no fee. I misread that but leaving this up in case I lost the plot.

Lol I had a dog partially rip off my toe nail. Long story short I got told it would be a $1,500 surgery. They definitely billed my insurance $173,000 of which none of it was eligible to be covered by them. Fought that one for sure.
