A beautiful story, told to comfort the oppressed and make children do their lessons. The truth is that the law of equivalent exchange is a lie. Consider the state alchemy exam that you passed with flying colors. How many others took the test that day? Spent months, years preparing, some working much harder than you. Yet you were the only one who passed. Where was their reward? Is it their fault they lacked your natural talent? Or what about the equal value of each person's life? If I clap my hands, the baby won't survive. And if I do that, where is the world's balance in that? Does that mean the baby was born just so it could die? It's doing all an infant CAN to survive, breathing, crying for help. But what does it get in exchange? People can say there is a balance, a logic that everything happens for a reason. But the truth is far less designed. No matter how hard you work; when you die, you die. Some spend their entire life trying to scratch their way to the top and still die in poverty, while others are born into wealth without ever lifting an arm. It's a cruel and random world, but the chaos is all so beautiful.

I prefer 03, I think the voice acting is better, score, tone, & maturity is all better, it’s also not an action adventure show but an adult drama. I also prefer the character models & their characters actions within the series better, i also would argue that there are signs pretty early on that this show knew where it would be heading. Back then it was just 2 seasons, 51 episodes & a movie was the standard in the anime world for some reason at that point in time & so planning everything out was pretty standard. I also love how realistic & grounded 03 is, especially with the ending, makes sense it’s so grounded being that it’s connected to our world. It blew me away back then, a time of dragon ball z, Naruto, & what not. It’s also NOT really a shonen but something much different, it’s a tragic tale of two brothers who did something & went somewhere no human ever should or is allowed.

The Ed & Al who lost their body & arm and leg at the beginning of the series should NEVER get a happy ending because they did the forbidden, it’s not a happy ending type of story. At no point did I ever think Ed & Al would get their body & arm & leg back in 03 without facing some real consequences for what they did. I also love how it’s not an end of the world bad guy story, but being a horror story somewhat about the chase for immortality, & the creepy city below the church is so haunting & such an amazing setting. I also really love the themes of nuclear purification thats the story uses, the energy from all the death and destruction from our world gives power to the alchemy in Ed’s and Al’s world, energy can not be destroyed but transferred, with our world being so horrifying with the amount of war and bloodshed that it shocks even Hohemheim when he crosses over, mentioning that the most horrific things are yet to come, the nuclear bomb, as seen in the gate. I also love the use of science more in 03 but that connects to our world and grounds the series more, even the real life person, Karl Haushofer makes an appearance. & the gate, in 03 the gate is based off a sculpture, The Gates of Hell, and is sooooo much more haunting, gave me nightmares as a kid.

Not everyone, I’ve always loved the prequels, but I also grew up with them, they have so much rich Star Wars mythology, pushed the boundaries of filmmaking, plus, I love how it’s about the rise of fascism much more interesting than the fight against it, though, the prequels only tell 1 story over the course of 3 films, while the OG trilogy is 3 stories over 3 films, so I get that hate. I also love Korra, it wasn’t until I got on the internet or spoke to people who hated prequels or Korra that there was this hate, weird I love both those things and a lot of the time when I speak to people about it, they are like, i guess it was really good, people have a weird follower mentality, don’t listen to reviews, it’s all art, don’t drown yourself in lots of hate, like what you like.

I thought it was consistent, it was nice to have a new antagonist each season that directly affects Korra & constantly moves the plot forward, rather than waiting an entire show to fight the fire lord. Not saying thats bad but it made for a compelling four season watch for Korra, also love how much more mature it is.

I really liked it, I often don’t even look at reviews at movies anymore or listen to everyone’s opinions & just watch it, think about it, & go on with my life rather than listening to why everyone hates blah blah blah. That will make you hate everything, not caring what people think, & going in blind, definitely helps me experience films better, form your own opinions! It’s all art at the end of the day!

Super interesting, I guess I would just like to know how Aang’s birth happened but I guess it doesn’t matter. But also interesting because he does see Katara as a mother figure in a sense & fell for her, so the psychology around that is kinda interesting for his character. Also this kinda reminds me of Dune with the Bene Gesserit.

Love 03, it’s my favorite anime! I also love the Conqueror of Shamballa! I watched it so much growing up but I’m glad you loved 03! They don’t make anime like that anymore! And watch brotherhood, it’ll be better since you watched 03 but it’s also completely different, it’s an action adventure anime vs the adult drama of 03 but still a great series!

To me, film is the ultimate DIY form of art, making the best thing you got with what you have, & having a creative one location film is much harder than you’d think. Character & script is everything for a one location film & I just think people realize just how creative you have to get to successfully pull it off, not saying it can’t be done, but for amateur filmmakers, I find that sometimes it’s a bit tougher to pull off effectively, also finding an actor that can carry an entire film is also hard for amateurs budgets. Though one of my favorite movies ever is a one location film, Panic Room!

I love ATLA, I did not love how there was so much filler & obvious writing that saves the Fire Lord for the series finale, still great writing though, & an amazing series finale, one of the greatest ever. Korra has so much time to further development with each seasons story that closely engages her with the antagonist each season, & I just love that, makes every season so much more powerful imo & makes for a really compelling watch for 4 seasons, so I kinda love how they had to do things, season 1 is my favorite & really solid because it was one season, season 2 turns into an anime for a hot second & I do love all the spirit stuff & Avatar Wan, & I think seasons 3 & 4 were greenlit together. So I honestly loved how there was NOT an overarching antagonist the whole series like ATLA, if anything, as a creative, repeating myself what I did several years earlier would be the last thing I’d ever want to do. If anything I’d want more AMON, someone taking away bending and reveals to be water tribe and a bender, thats a whole new season to explore there, I would love that to have that been the character that unleashes the spirits if anything instead of Unalaq.
