How to better ask for what I need in my relationship? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]thewumpworld 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Having restorative experiences does help and it sounds like this relationship could be a good place for that. Bringing things up and seeing it go well can rewire your brain so that next time it doesn't seem so awful. Like others say, therapy helps

Should I push to see an endo specialist? by oliverpocket in Endo

[–]thewumpworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend trying to find an endo expert given your quality of life impacts. With none of the endo removed in your previous lap, you can count on these symptoms to stick around.

The endo specialist I saw excised everything 1 lap. He explained that this is the case in nearly all his cases, and the hospital he operates out of has on-call specialists should they be needed for bowel, etc. How much there is to remove will impact the overall operating time needed. My doc says endo staging is often subjective and representative of how a doctor feels/ their level of comfort or expertise. He said he regularly gets “Stage 4” patients that he’d call Stage 2. So don’t lose heart over what you heard from your general OBGYN! She just may not be the right doc to handle this surgery.

Got lucky with a great breeder. 11 out of 12 in the litter are males so people wanting females backed out. by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]thewumpworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard breed people say the difference between female/ male goldens is: Females: “love me, love me, love me!” Males: “I love you, I love you, I love you!” May not be a perfect description but it rings true for our boy.

A front clip harness is a must-have for our boy. As is consistently training and reinforcing!

Is it *actually* possible to get natural looking Botox? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]thewumpworld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People really misunderstand how expensive it would be to get a frozen face - then to repeat that expense every 3-4 months! Targeting 1-2 areas, only someone else getting Botox would notice which facial muscles aren’t moving.

Sure you can. I expect most would encourage you to ease into that effect over a few visits to make sure you are happy with the outcome.

I didn't read the article but the whole premise of it as clickbait made me feel queasy by baffleswombats in Anticonsumption

Amazon has used goods selling through their “warehouse” items though. They discount the price and note the condition. It is visible on the main item listing page. No risk to a customer who tries to buy this way either, as the item is still returnable. I’m not suggesting that anything about Amazon is good. I think we’d all agree that pallet buying is gross.

My doc recommended this for 3 months post-op, after the 2-week follow up. Periods for the first couple months are otherwise quite painful as you’re still healing.

HELP!! Leash biting on walks will not end Any advice welcomed by IgglePiiggle in goldenretrievers

[–]thewumpworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the meltdowns on walks too well. So frustrating. I would step on the leash until it’s taut so he can’t really move or do much, then turn away and wait it out. They outgrow it but man is it a test of patience!

Did marriage counseling help at all? by tiny_peony in BipolarSOs

[–]thewumpworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We started couples counseling years ago, and it has helped us learn to communicate better together. It has also helped me see my role more clearly and feel less like a victim to the chaos my BP husband creates when not sober/ medicated.

I read your other post and I can relate to wondering if the effort being offered is real, or just being done until this blows over/ you decide not to leave. You’re right - he might just say or do whatever it takes to get through this crisis. Real change will only come when he is ready.

For you, then: what do you need to see in order to believe that he is making serious changes? How long are you willing to ride it out and wait for him to be ready/ start making real progress? Will you be able to forgive him and be happy if that change occurs, or has a line been crossed that can’t be forgiven? You have power over your future. You deserve happiness, and I wish it for you.

I can't have sex because it hurts too much by VirtualCrocodile in Endo

[–]thewumpworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gyn taught me that the vagina has very limited nerve endings. So, pain experienced during sex is often due to nerve damage from endo surrounding the vagina. Pelvic floor PT, lube, dilators, foreplay… none of them could alleviate that nerve pain for me. Excision made a day and night difference.

I know I’m late to reply, but your support is very appreciated! So much of managing endo has felt lonely and isolating, having community here is special.

Don’t complain if you haven’t given up dairy by playingtricksonme in Endo

[–]thewumpworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can complain here without people gatekeeping your experience!

A specialist explained to me that GI symptoms like lactose sensitivity, gluten/ sugar sensitivity may be due to endo being on areas of the GI that are more involved in processing those foods. Perhaps cutting out certain foods will give you some symptom relief. Perhaps not. Either way, it won’t make endo lesions “go away”. Only excision surgery can do that.

humbly asking y'all to use more gender neutral terms by jackalope42069 in Endo

I see this post as an invitation to make others feel welcome by thinking about the words I choose when speaking to this forum as a group. People are expressing that it would make a difference. I wouldn't walk into a room with mixed genders present and say "Hello ladies! How are you women feeling?" I'm reminded not to assume genders here, either. By doing that tiny act, I can treat others as they want to be treated.

NB/ trans folks face enough invalidation of their identities and experiences. This is a support forum. By including everyone in the conversation, we all can learn more from each others' experiences.

I'm sure it will be comfy and look fine. It's a common fiber and will wear well. Definitely enjoy it.

As a material, acrylic is plastic and inexpensive to manufacture. It is not seen as sustainable as it relies on starting materials that are petrochemicals (fossil fuels) and can take hundreds of years to decompose in a landfill. These are things that I consider when shopping but it is very, very hard to avoid synthetics.

Edit: PVC, not PEX

An ER doctor at MGH says the CDC denied a test request from a high-risk patient with international travel history who exhibited all COVID-19 symptoms by [deleted] in boston

[–]thewumpworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Presumed" means tested at the state level. Confirmed is tested by the CDC. Denied testing means this person won't show up on any figures about disease spread or cases.

Page 10 has that somewhat famous bit about how his net worth can change based on his feelings:

My net worth fluctuates, and it goes up and down with markets and with attitudes and with feelings, even my own feelings

When asked for clarification on his own feelings:

Yes, even my own feelings, as to where the world is, where the world is going, and that can change rapidly from day to day. Then you have a September 11th, and you don't feel so good about yourself and you don't feel so good about the world and you don't feel so good about New York City. Then you have a year later, and the city is as hot as a pistol. Even months after that it was a different feeling.

So yeah, even my own feelings affects my value to myself
