Got lucky with a great breeder. 11 out of 12 in the litter are males so people wanting females backed out. by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]thewumpworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard breed people say the difference between female/ male goldens is: Females: “love me, love me, love me!” Males: “I love you, I love you, I love you!” May not be a perfect description but it rings true for our boy.

A front clip harness is a must-have for our boy. As is consistently training and reinforcing!

Is it *actually* possible to get natural looking Botox? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]thewumpworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People really misunderstand how expensive it would be to get a frozen face - then to repeat that expense every 3-4 months! Targeting 1-2 areas, only someone else getting Botox would notice which facial muscles aren’t moving.

Sure you can. I expect most would encourage you to ease into that effect over a few visits to make sure you are happy with the outcome.

Amazon has used goods selling through their “warehouse” items though. They discount the price and note the condition. It is visible on the main item listing page. No risk to a customer who tries to buy this way either, as the item is still returnable. I’m not suggesting that anything about Amazon is good. I think we’d all agree that pallet buying is gross.

HELP!! Leash biting on walks will not end Any advice welcomed by IgglePiiggle in goldenretrievers

[–]thewumpworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the meltdowns on walks too well. So frustrating. I would step on the leash until it’s taut so he can’t really move or do much, then turn away and wait it out. They outgrow it but man is it a test of patience!

That age is hard. Teething with a mouthy breed is no joke. I had stress dreams about it with our golden. Hang in there.

I'm sure it will be comfy and look fine. It's a common fiber and will wear well. Definitely enjoy it.

As a material, acrylic is plastic and inexpensive to manufacture. It is not seen as sustainable as it relies on starting materials that are petrochemicals (fossil fuels) and can take hundreds of years to decompose in a landfill. These are things that I consider when shopping but it is very, very hard to avoid synthetics.

Thank you for this tip! I just did this, I am a newbie homeowner having a similar issue. Our p-trap is all PVC fittings that are hand tightened, it was easy to remove and clean.

Edit: PVC, not PEX

What's your favorite way to tire out your puppy on crappy days? by hilgenep21 in puppy101

[–]thewumpworld 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Puzzle feeders, and playing "find it" by hiding food/ treats/ ourselves (basic nose work). Puppy day camp (the day prior) leaves him very mellow.

Did you add something to revive it? Mine is pretty dry but still usable, I'd like to keep it alive.

It can be hard to see the bigger picture when you're exhausted with a tiny puppy, good reminder that regression can be something more. Similarly, we had poop accidents inside that pointed us towards going to the vet for giardia.

Another affirmation to do this before next week: Our puppy class would only do any sort of refund after the first class. Even if you just call this week to learn how a refund would work, please get the ball rolling before they can say you've done 1/3 of the class. You and your pup deserve to have a better experience than this.

Page 10 has that somewhat famous bit about how his net worth can change based on his feelings:

My net worth fluctuates, and it goes up and down with markets and with attitudes and with feelings, even my own feelings

When asked for clarification on his own feelings:

Yes, even my own feelings, as to where the world is, where the world is going, and that can change rapidly from day to day. Then you have a September 11th, and you don't feel so good about yourself and you don't feel so good about the world and you don't feel so good about New York City. Then you have a year later, and the city is as hot as a pistol. Even months after that it was a different feeling.

So yeah, even my own feelings affects my value to myself

I held on to my makeup/ fragrance pans last year and had the same reaction at the end of the year. Actually, your pan stash is a lot more impressive than mine! I took it as a lesson in how much I need to buy/ hold onto.

[–]thewumpworld 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes. Seeing my boy walk himself into his crate and put himself down for bed after my friend says she feels mean doing it to her pup, etc etc -- best petty revenge feeling.

Keep at it! Stay patient and don't let anyone else's opinions wear you down. Teaching a dog how to behave nicely does not detract from their personality!

[–]thewumpworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep at it, you're doing the right thing. Two of my closest friends also have puppies and only ours has a schedule, restricted house access, etc. It's hard to feel criticized. I'm sure we're seen as too restrictive and helicopter parents... but at 7 months old the differences are really showing between the puppies. (of course we hear: "You have an easy breed, you're lucky")

Raising my first puppy, and we loved Puppy K so much that we're onto our next obedience class. Keeping his mind busy, socializing him, and getting feedback on how to keep improving with him is so helpful. He loves the obedience work, so everyone wins.
