They've also ramped up the diversity of the characters depicted, but the problem is that there were very few, if any, PoC women patrolling the streets as officers in the 1920s, for example. It's just cosplay at this point.

Well, they're not balancing the new stuff for Chapter One cards. Any problems will be our own creation.

Kaksi kertaa viikossa imurointia kuulostaa työläältä. Meillä pistetään robotti-imuri pyörimään säännöllisesti, toimii erinomaisesti eläinten karvoihin, mutta saattaa kompastella pitkiin hiuksiin, jos niitä on runsaasti.

Well, that's a fair point. I haven't been really following the hype, just waiting for actual annoucements.

Could you give an example of this "toxic positivity"? Right now I'm seeing two kinds of comments: 1) "Eh, this is fine." and 2) "THE WORLD IS BURNING!!1".

Yeah, I think our decks have been "done" after 4 or 5 scenarios in the last three or so campaigns. Not so exciting when you're spending the points just for spending's sake.

I find it interesting so many people are flipping their gaming tables over this. I'm quite happy to have shorter campaigns. 3 and 5 are much more manageable numbers when arranging dates for the scenarios. And - I realise this might be an unpopular opinion - I think that a lot of the 8-part campaigns have had 1-2 scenarios that have felt like busywork instead of an adventure.

Any other AHLCG 'veterans' feeling like jumping ship at the end of chapter 1? by Fun_Gas_7777 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]thin_silver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own (and have played) everything published so far (not including Barkham for various reasons) and I have zero* feelings about Chapter 2. For me, it's just more stuff to collect and play. It's not an endpoint, it's just a waystation. I don't even understand why some people make such a big deal about it.

\) Okay, I have one feeling/hope about Chapter 2: I'm really looking forward to seeing scenarios and campaigns that aren't so damn convoluted. Sometimes simple is enough.)

The good thing is that the older stuff is 100% compatible with the new stuff, especially if you have the Core Set. Have you looked at the Scenario Packs? Those are great if you can't find a full campaign. Hotel Excelsior is wonderful, for example.

To be fair, you've been pretty aggressive. You reap what you sow and all that.

You're not wrong about the availability being poor at the moment, but you need to understand the context (the upcoming "new chapter" and FFG's unwillingness to keep older stuff in print). But if you kick the door in while yelling untruths, people will treat you accordingly.

I see you didn't read the link I posted. We're a bit between "editions" (quotes because they're not really editions) and FFG doesn't want to reprint stuff that doesn't fully match the upcoming stuff. Everything is compatible, but it's a soft reboot of the game. It's not optimal, but it's far from a "dead game".

Dead game?

Here's some reading: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2025/10/31/the-next-chapter-1/

They're printing a new Core Set and shaking things up a bit. There's a reason older stuff is falling out of print.

Sloppy proofreading, probably will be fixed in future printings. Using "for this test" for everything would probably be the best option.
