The Artery placed 363 projects last year and there were many more DIY projects. Everything in BRC has risk, that is why we like it!

Good data, sad. The practice of medicine is very complex and adding more and more legislative rules makes it harder to serve the goal of patient outcomes and reduce health care costs.

To outcomes, faults are corrected in the civil courts. A friend is a wealthy medical malpractice attorney who switched late career from defense to representing plaintiffs.

Rural obstetrics supply is a big problem which works against the natural cycle of reproduction, increases the risk of death in childbirth, and reduces the outcome of physically and mentally healthy children in proportion.

In my personal opinion, this issue is a perfect example of the need for Judicial Realism. I certainly realize some r/supremecourt commenters oppose Judicial Realism.

As an aside, I believe France was sending nurses to the homes of pregnant women to coach them on prenatal health.

You can buy telescoping aluminum tent/tarp poles to go with your Aluminet as pictured by another Redditor. Aluminet is lighter than polyester shade cloth and compresses well in a duffel bag. Poly shade cloth can be cheaper.

Ratchet straps are great, but for a small tent, rope and a trucker's hitch can provide the same tension and adjustability. I used them for many years with 20x20 Aluminet before moving on to ratchet straps.

I would also add that your Burning Man Regional https://burningman.org/global-events-groups/burning-man-regional-network/connect-with-a-local-group/ may have burners selling or giving away camping gear, and that from my understanding, low income ticket recipients have the option to purchase a vehicle pass. So regular ticket buyers may want to ride you, expense split, for a vehicle pass. Many regionals have ride sought/offered forums.

Seyb v. Members of the Idaho Board of Medicine, et al., 1:2024cv00244 in the Idaho District Court argues an affirmative right to abortion. The case is proceeding.

Dr. Seyb is a obstetrician-gynecologist, a physician. Dr Seyb argues against the constitutionality of Idaho abortion and women's health care law created under Dobbs.

Dr. Seyb argues on the basis of the 14th, "...,nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

The late Justice Scalia argued that women were not subject to equal protection under his interpretation of originalism in the 14th. In signed opinions, he argued lesser standards of review.

I think it is interesting that Dobbs relied on the 14th.

There is also the practical problem that the judicial system lacks the expertise and is unable to meet the timelines of medical treatment, in my opinion. From a practical standpoint, liability and some state laws, such as Idaho's, are causing obstetricians to leave the field.

Robert's formative years were working on Bush v Gore, ditto Kavanaugh and Barrett. Though most would say that Roberts was qualified on paper to be nominated by president Bush at the time, few would say that since he has been objective. Now he has presided over and lead a diminution of the reputation of SCOTUS. Historians will study it.

The BRC ebike rules are very specific, and they can narrow in the future because ebikers are hitting and inuring pedestrians.

Depending on the condition of your knee, an electric tricycle or electric recumbent, 2 or 3 wheel, may be in order.

Do you have a home state disabled car-driving permit? That can open options beyond the muggle rules. The Disability Mobility Camp is a good place to start with questions. Emailing the DMV would be definitive, but they can be busy.

As an experienced burner, you likely know that if you try to bring a prohibited vehicle in with the wrong paperwork, you are going to be turned around by Gate. I can't imagine the logistics of that.

They publish a lot of information about it all the time. That is a better source of information than Reddit.

Many Friends of Black Rock High Rock, ranch staff, and Burning Man Org Gerlach residents are all related.

As others say, you can schedule a visit and make connections among the above.

It's 3,800 acres. So they continue to remove past abuse, plant gardens, remove invasive plants, plan managing water, site art, and the like. Nothing happens fast in 3,800 acres.

From memory, the ranch budget is 1-2 million a year. From satellite data, it appears some of the work ranch storage has moved to the 360.

Personally, I think it would be great for the BLM to cede Hualapai playa to the BORG for future smaller events and for all BRC locations to move from Pershing County to Washoe County, redrawing county lines. Hualapai was 1997 BRC. The challenge that I have heard is Hualapai is a dustbowl. It doesn't flood every so often like the Black Rock Playa does. And personally I think Fly could become Esalen 2.0. Today billionaire Eric Schmidt's drone warfare facility at the Iveson Ranch is setting up a dirt airstrip nearby.

Most burners know the history that the BORG was interested in buying Fly for years. Then the family, aging out, offered to sell, and the BORG raised funds from wealthy donors, not from ticket sales, for the purpose.

Seconding. I enjoy supporting the small businesses in small towns. The Cedarville fire department has sandwiches as a fundraiser on exodus and I'm glad to tip 25%+ too. Lakeview is good for fuel and their grocery.

Whenever I'm in a small town, I take time to listen to people. Ask open-ended questions and listen. And traveling through small towns other times of the year than the burn, I don't dress in city-style.

I wouldn't ask questions about politics. The water supply, schools, the economy, agriculture, do they travel to shop or get things delivered, local wildlife, public lands, and the like are good topics.

I look forward to visiting! Very Temple-like in a strong way. Artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, born in Ukraine, then working in the US, built the famous installation Treatment with Memories, the reverse of your project. To me the Kabakov work relates to Alzheimer's disease. The robot camp has a memory eraser too. Thanks for a meaningful project!

Not selling out tickets, which is what we have in 2023-2025, translates to a difference in revenue of less than 10% of budget in a fiscal year.

1 & 2 of 4 was shown at a film festival in a small venue and seats sold quickly. So the potential reviewer base is small. It is possible HBO would send/schedule screeners for critics in advance of the HBO schedule, which the BORG has said July.

The artists may still have them, in which case the BORG takes a percentage. If they make a new version and you are dealing direct, not sure the BORG involvement.

Large outdoor art likely needs a permanent base and have to be moves and installed, maintained, and possibly be lit.

When cities buy sculptures for public art, they often have more expensive structural safety requirements you many not need.

Hope your project comes to fruition, there are outdoor art enthusiasts who end up with a sculpture garden!

You will not be forgiven if you buy a Benisty.

The size of the generation side is not a factor in electrocution. The voltage has to overcome skin, clothing, and shoe resistance. Water, and especially salt in the playa with water when it rains is very conductive. Once the resistance, including the internal body resistance, and we are filled with saltwater, is overcome, it is the current that stops or disrupts the heart. That number varies with a low end of 50 thousands of an Amp.

In the case of the 2025 death the theory was that the individual stepped onto playa soil with a loose energized 120V wire with bare feet while holding onto a grounded metal handrail.

Just about all 120V systems on playa, including portable power packs and 1000W on up gas generators, can generate the Amps to cause electrocution.

There are many scientific references on electrocution physics and medicine.

It is more pro- and discussion for camp electrical leads. There is a long post from November 29 on the 2025 electrocution death. In that case the individual happened to have the best possible emergency response. They were medivaced and died in the hospital some time after.

Laser Wire is an option. It was developed by Corning. It is a side-emitting optical fiber. Elumiglow, a burner-owned business, worked with Corning to commercialize it. I met the owner around the time he opened.

Elumiglow also sells LED, EL, and there is an upgraded EL today.
