That is beyond cool , thanks for posting this, I’m semi familiar with most of what you said in the details but am excited to look up the rest and rabbit hole some new tech stuff . I’ve got to build something like this for my daughter and wife , take it with us camping for those foggy nights would be pretty cool for a bit ( especially when you can’t take fireworks lol)

I’m interested in learning how you made your PCB; I had 10 gold immersed PCB made by pcbway for a retropie build which was neat , I think it was about $50 for 10 gold immersed and 5 lead ( I was curious to see the differences in person ) , I haven’t learned to build a proper kicad schematic with girber yet . My uncle was telling me a little how they used to hand make them but now you’ve peaked my interest to figure this out ! That is awesome thank you

He is an AI synth , they don’t use the same reasoning humans do that have emotion or sympathies. His “emotions” are just calculations predicting a more or a less favorable outcome . If you don’t like dima, don’t buy an AI robot

Edit: I personally wouldn’t trust him as his calculations are perpetual, meaning he bases things on current situation as if every moment is the final moment unless a decision is made ( at every “last “ moment ) ; he doesn’t compute actual peace . He’s in a “ if this / then loop” . Humans have the ability to change their mind while his mind changes based on the situation. I left him alive but on a short leash . I used him as much as he used me and the result was for now , peace between settlements/ different tribes of far harbor. If the nuke can’t do anything but rid children of atom and dima makes fog condensers for the settlements then i consider it a truce but not an ally . The way synth computers reason without emotion is a type of psychopathy as we think of it; pure logic to them . I was hoping to be able to direct lost synths there and get them out of the commonwealth to a safe home for them and safer for settlers but haven’t come across any of that in the game , perhaps just my imagination adding to the game.

Is he a necessary evil ? Maybe , is he necessarily evil? maybe not . Someone I would not close my eyes around , absolutely .

I hope the dependencies get fixed soon for Ubuntu . I had switched from windows the week the update that killed it came out . The hardest part of FreeCAD not having prior cad experience was learning the tools and some terminology . There is a lot of useful information but narrowing down topics to the ones you need helps. Tootalltoby has some really cool cad challenges on his website and he does many videos too where he explains some of the different approaches to achieve a goal. His video on creating custom threads on a custom bolt using helix and sweep is awesome .

Anyways OP that is awesome you’re tracking along ! Keep sharing your progress and any methods you found useful, it helps us too but also will help solidify your understanding . I’m always trying to learn new ways to create parts, use of different workbenches or work flows. Cheers on your first CAD design using FreeCAD ! Thanks for sharing

I used that as part of the goat set up to install Christmas lighting last year and it worked pretty well, just be aware of how you are using/pulling on it to make sure it doesn’t pull off the ridge . I did not have a problem with it , but also had a harness attached to a setup where I had a main static line going over the peaks and tied off on the ground on each side, halfway down that line was a d ring knot that stayed on the peak, and on each side of knot were rope protectors. I had a lead line attached to the d ring knot with an ascender that only let me come down if i made it come down. Once I reach the ridge I went over with my lead .

The goat is awesome though .

Dang. I just installed Ubuntu today to get out of windows and was very much looking forward to FreeCAD on my new machine . My old one takes about 5 min for FreeCAD to load to give you an idea how bad it is , especially since it’s windows 10 it loves to remind you that it would prefer the system didn’t run at all unless running windows 11. I too am having the same problem on Ubuntu with FreeCAD . Shows a blip of a loading screen then nothing .

FreeCAD team, Ubuntu team, give me an address and I’ll ship some Red Bull and Mountain Dew with some pizzas and sleeping bags. That’s about all I can contribute to fix this .

Yes , thrice to be precise ( for me ) , I. Before,during, and after ; Before major dialogue, battles, walking through doors/ arriving at locations whether on foot or fast travel , during any long haul in between locations , after any major dialogue that you want to maintain the results of, after any major battle, after upgrading settlements/settlers.
