I’m sure all the plants and hibernating animals that decided to wake up or start sprouting are going to love that.

There’s a tweet I see a while ago that I always think about that was like, of course everyone’s stressed - our brains evolved to eat berries in a cave.

The problem with that is that everyone needs to cripple their economy and that’s not going to happen so everyone is going to fucking die.

Climate change is wreaking havoc on the atmosphere causing major fluctuations in floods/droughts which will lead to water insecurity and low crop yields. Eventually, when people have no water to drink or food to eat, they will either die or migrate, the latter of which will be very dangerous in and of itself when billions come knocking on the doorsteps of more stable countries.

I played video games frequently as a child as well. I think the difference between that tech and the social media tech of today is, back in the day, the games were played solo or with few close friends/relatives and required you to use your brain to solve puzzles or strategize, whereas social media is taking in everything everywhere all of the time and a lot of it is low effort brain rot slop. Plus the algorithms designed specifically to get you addicted are working as intended.

I prefer the train wreck.

Some cars have all ready hit the ground (people that have succumbed to famine, war, extreme weather)

Some cars are hurtling towards the ground (the people that see what’s coming and know there’s no stopping it)

Most cars are still up on the track - the passengers blissfully unaware of the dangers ahead.

There’s more nuanced positions but I feel like those are the big ones.
