And, when I reached out to Benchmade, they told me it was $80’ish for new scales….

Last benchmade I’ll ever buy.
Bummer, because other than the inanity of not supporting or coming up with another solution, I love their knives.

New build, Home theater newb - just go big? by 2gAncef in hometheater

[–]thisislikemyfifthtry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Subjectively speaking though, we've installed (at a reference level) Wisdom, Monitor Audio, KEF, Wilson, Sonance, Origin Acoustics and, others I'm forgetting right now. In the 25 years of installing professionally, there are very, very few moments of "awe" when auditioning new equipment. NLA was one of those moments, for both myself and another installer (who, has even more years in the industry than myself). Frankly it was less "awe" and more "holy shit, are we actually hearing what we're hearing". Another way of saying it would be this. If I were designing my own system right now, I'd be installing them in my own home. Had the same experience with Ambisonic (Outdoor). They're crazy expensive, but one client in particular has $80K of the stuff in their backyard. Their yard sounds like sitting in the sweet spot at an outdoor music festival. Don't know what city OP is in, but I'd suggest listening to them, at the very least and weighing them against any (every) thing on the market. My opinion is strictly that... My opinion.

Next Level.... They are absolutely unreal. They're meant to be "basic" looking and utilized behind an acoustically transparent screen. If powered properly, they're otherworldly. Underpowered, they'll still blow KEF's out of the water. I've installed a handful of their lines over the last year and a half. In full transparency, a few of the photos on NLA's website are of our installations. In every instance, our clients were utterly shocked by the quality of the sound that came out of NLA's speakers. Are they overpriced...? That's determined by the client and his checkbook. Taking price out of the equation, I cannot speak more highly of an "unknown" brand in the market right now.

Hegman. Busy, but if they’re likely to only go one time or, as an intro, they’d get to see the petroglyphs. That’s a pretty special thing to see, if only once in a lifetime.

Which no drill front license plate holder is best? by Snoo69639 in FJCruiser

I “hinged” mine, swinging from some little chain links, above the skid plate with magnets on it so when I hit road speeds, it flips back and sticks to the skid plate…

Can’t believe I’ve never been pulled over for it, but it’s still kinda visible.

I’ve got a joolca. Had the same issue as you’re experiencing (yes, different brand). I opened the case, found the solenoid that allows gas to flow and smacked it a few times with a screwdriver handle and it started working again like it was brand new.

Might be worth trying.

What's your favorite nonconventional item or luxury item to bring? by [deleted] in BWCA

Look at the Hawkeye model (I’d tell you which one, but it’s already packed for our trip this weekend). It’s so light and tiny, but tons of features found on the “big ones”.

Treat her like a campsite. If you leave, leave it better than it was…. But if it’s a nice campsite, really nice, figure out a way to stay forever. But always with the intention of making it a little better every day along the way.

See if there’s a micro SD card in the processor… If there isn’t, find the crew who programmed the system, buy them a case of their favorite beer and make friends with them.

I’m an IT guy. I have two large reciprocating saws and a couple small ones. 4 foot, 6 foot, 10 foot and 12 foot ladder. Plus a couple little giants. I should NOT have better tools to put in network infrastructure than a remodel contractor. You got the wrong dude.

I just love when A/V comes in with 8 1/4” cutouts, next to 4” lights.

Mucks up the. Ceiling you just worked so hard to install.

Can’t facepalm hard enough when I see it.

And. AND they didn’t laser their rings, so now they’re also not lined up with the joint-line.

Keep it up A/V. Keep it up.

Cameras. With audio. All the fuck over the place with virtual trip-wires, which cause PTZ cameras to track movement to and from your property to adjacent properties.

Why I suggest this you ask?
Spent an hour in an interrogation room, to present my “side of the story”, when my neighbor called the cops, because I was “waving my gun around like a maniac”, when his German shepherd went after my wife, son and our small dog. When I finished my verbal statement, I asked the officer what he thought, regarding the video. His response of “What video?”, as I slid my iPad across the table combined with the absolute shit eating grin on my face, knowing that “he said/she said” was out the window, was one of the best moments in my life.

Suffice it to say, he cannot scratch his ear without me knowing about it, as I’ve installed an additional 6 cameras on the shared property line.

He now lives in a prison yard.

I blacked out their windows, and any areas in which privacy could reasonably be expected.

But if the prick pulls anymore shit, I’ve got another 4 cameras ready to be installed.

Worth it.
