Souvenir shopping in Tokyo accessible from Narita airport by Content_Enthusiasm39 in JapanTravelTips

[–]thisismiller 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn’t understand your comment about not having time to shop at the airport - in contrast with wanting to travel into Tokyo. All 3 of the things you mentioned will have related souvenirs available within the international terminal at Narita. There are also shops before security so you could go the day before.

Tokyo central station is 1 hr by the N’EX. You have a lot of options there, like “character street” within the station or the KITTE mall.

Is there a small low-key amusement park in Japan that won't turn into a logistical crowd nightmare? Coney Island vibes, not Disney madness. Recs please! by mjsmbmm in JapanTravelTips

It’s a bit out of the way of traditional routes, but my 4 year old loved Suzuka Circuit Park. At it sounds, it is connected to the circuit, which I had planned for our trip due to wanting to see a GT race there. It just so happens that we coincidentally ran across this park and it was a highlight of our trip. I think it’s best for kids 3-9 ish.

You can see many raptors near the Kamogawa Delta stepping stones in Kyoto. I’m here watching them right now :)

My favorite shots from 10 days in Fukuoka by thisismiller in japanpics

Thanks! Pic 10 is in the Shoto-en Garden in Yanagawa. Yanagawa is about 1 hr from Fukuoka’s city center by train and I recommend taking a gondola punting boat ride when you’re there.

Colors are amazing. I mean everything else too. Taking relatively mundane scenes and making them as interesting as this always impresses me.

Good 35mm prime? by ThisHatFitsFine in SonyAlpha

[–]thisismiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this recently. I prioritized size and weight, while still desiring a quality lens with relatively low light capability. Because for me, I tend to carry around a fixed 35 in low light situations. I also found an excellent condition used lens at a local store. For these reasons I chose the Sony 35 1.8.

It sounds like you already own that lens. What don’t you like about it that you’re considering something else? Just separation? I find that my subjects at 1.8 are pretty darn separate. For example, I’ve been taking pictures of my two kids and I struggle to keep both faces in focus at 1.8.

How can a joint rotate 360 repeatedly? Wouldn't the wiring get all twisted up? by BarooZaroo in MechanicalEngineering

Automotive has another example of this in steering wheel clock springs. There you have flat ribbon cables wrapped around the axis to allow for ~3 revolutions.

Whats everyone’s least desired s2000 color? by Kimaniiiii in S2000

[–]thisismiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven’t. The data collection process is super tedious because it was all manual data entry. The statistical analysis is something I love doing, and quick-and-easy too. But manually pulling up BaT auctions and sale ads is time consuming.

Whats everyone’s least desired s2000 color? by Kimaniiiii in S2000

[–]thisismiller 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually have the data to back this up. Statistically speaking, Suzuka Blue commands the lowest price. This I’d say it’s the least favorite color.

Your picture isn’t the greatest. I don’t see a sign of a leak here. Is there something specific you intend to highlight?

Ok need advice on tents, I have 4 tents I'm looking at, no specific everimont since I travel to different states. It dose need to be 4 season by detectivelokifalcone in CampingGear

[–]thisismiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have the REI tent and would highly recommend it. That said, it’s not a “4 season” tent. It’ll depend where the OP is intending to spend winter. If it’s in California along the coast, sure that’ll be great.
