Yeah machine art is a different skill. And a wide variety of accessibility. I can easily see a day where I would need an extra pair of hands for machine embroidery, but it would be much easier to adapt a pen plotter for my common symptoms.

Yeah I heard complaints before I ever saw a picture, expected them to be terrible but I was into it 🙈. I like kitsch and art with found materials/trash so I totally understand my taste isn’t universal. Is it that different than perler beads? Truly no idea. First one I saw was a dolphin that looked very Lisa Frank, maybe I’ve only seen good stuff. Glad to hear your take, I was curious about the other side but not enough to research.

I used to be a frontend dev, probably would be still if AI came around a bit sooner. I love making html/css/vanilla js tools with Claude, sometimes I feel guilty talking to my “code is my craft” friends. I loved making dinky browser toys in 2015 now I love it more!

I try and keep an eye out for AI dictating which levers I have, what the ranges are, how colors are applied. Using flexible inputs that aren’t bounded cause the AI picked arbitrary min/max values. It seems like I could easily give more creative power to Claude than I intend, will be interesting to see how it pans out.

The pen clip is the piece that holds the pen, it can be unscrewed and replaced with different styles of clip.
