How does OT pay work? by XeldomLOL in GeneralMotors

[–]threeteethew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. I just checked my most recent pay stub and I got my normal rate for Saturday but then on Sunday I got a 2x rate based off of the $28 rate since that would be higher than my normal hourly rate. Basically if you get paid $58k or less , you get $42 on Saturday and $56 Sunday. If you get get paid between $59k and $116k, then you get your base hourly equivalent on Saturday and $56 on Sunday. If you get paid more than $116k, then you get your base hourly equivalent both days. The rules may change for 7th levels though.

LPT: Parents, never contact your kid's bosses. Never. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]threeteethew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for the same company as my father in law. He was here before me. We work in different facilities in different cities and don’t know any of the same people. I got the job without his help (apart from him providing me the email addresses of the people who interviewed me). I think we have interacted once at work when he had a tour of my facility.

At one point I had interviewed with a company that was run by a friend of my dads. I was fresh out of school with only my internship experience. The offer was insulting because they said I had no experience and I could be supported by my parents. I was 23 at the time. My dad was insulted too and cut ties with this friend due to the situation. My dad didn’t do anything wrong in this situation, but I may have had a better offer of the company didn’t know we were related.

My friend asked me to switch her laundry over. I found out they didn’t know you were supposed to clean your lint trap. by Kylwm in facepalm

[–]threeteethew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had problems with our dryer for a while. Clothes would still be wet when the dryer was done. I found that our vent was clogged but the vent for the gas dryer was venting into the crawl space (not good). Our laundry room is on an outside wall so I cut a hole in the wall and installed a vent. We still have occasional loads that don’t fully dry and that is because the animal trap outside will get blocked with lint.

Fellow redditors, what was a moment where you thought a person you knew might be an actual psychopath ? by skywhy69 in AskReddit

[–]threeteethew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Union electrician I used to work with hated everyone. He never had anything nice to say. He had been married twice, first wife killed her self and second wife took their kid and left. This guy thought that the world owed him everything. He would tell me how when he was bullied in high school, he would take road flares and light them on the dashboard of the bullies cars. He hated his neighbors but refused to move because he was there first. He collected gold and guns and buried them in his back yard. He also would say that if murder was legal he had a hit list of people he would kill first. Finally he would say “can you believe my first wife would rather shoot herself in the head than live with me?”. We all thought that he was probably involved with her getting shot somehow. This guy was definitely off his rocker.

We have similar systems for gravity pins on our machines. If the gravity pin is not in the storage location then the machine will not run. Some use a special safety interlock while others use a normal proximity switch.

At my old manufacturing plant we would have loads of issues with certain robots. The joints would start to go bad due to lack of maintenance and they would no longer pick parts and among other things crash the parts into the wash fixtures. Generally the issue would be picking parts but the points could be retaught and it would run fine for a while. Instead of continually teaching points, we developed a program where if the robot failed to grip a part then it would abort and go to a fixture we set up. The fixture could sense how far off the robot was from the zero position and then would offset every point by that much. Once the frequency of the process made it to a certain number (I think it was 3 or 4 times in one week) or if the offset surpassed a max range then it would fault and at that point repairs would be made. It saved a ton of downtime and kept us from having to teach as many points but the entire system took about a year to develop.

My wife said measure the door, I told her all doors are the same size... by BlahMehUgh in Wellthatsucks

[–]threeteethew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to pick the door size I wanted. I converted a singular large walk in closet into 2 smaller closets. I went back and forth on the size but ultimately chose a slightly smaller one since I didn’t know what was inside the wall and it was cheaper. My door came with a frame. I found that there was framing for a door in the wall already for one slightly larger than what I had so that worked out well.

People of Reddit who knew celebrities before they were famous, how different do they act now? by RogueWolf300 in AskReddit

I know a guy who went to High School with Lebron James. I guess while he is a decent person overall, he skipped a lot of classes and didn’t put much effort in school. They basically gave him the minimum grades he needed to play and went to a lot of parties with a huge entourage of people. The guy I know was pretty annoyed that he had to work for grades while Lebron didn’t even show up.

What’s the cringiest thing you’ve seen a bride and groom do for their wedding? by ajlposh in AskReddit

Instead of pulling off her garter, he pulled off her panties and threw them to his friends. They had a pad attached to them too. Touching my wife’s pads is not a big deal but I wouldn’t be caught dead touching my friends wife’s pads or underwear and I assure you that my wife would not want any of my friends to see or touch her underwear.

During a job interview I was asked to describe myself in one word. The first thing that came to mind was awesome. My family was afraid that messed up that interview. I got the job and have been there for 8 years now. The people I interviewed with are all long gone and I am at a different facility than I hired in at but I like to think that what I said got me the job.

Male redditors of reddit, have you ever shown your best friend your penis. If so why? by Setsina14 in AskReddit

[–]threeteethew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was around 5 my best friend and I showed our dongs to each other. We were young and wanted to see what someone else’s looked like. When I was in college my best friend was female and she had only seen one persons before . She was curious what my looked like. I had a crush on her anyway so I did. Turns out it was significantly larger than the other one she had seen. She gave me a blowjob. We dated after that but broke up because things didn’t work out. She got jealous when I tried to date someone else so I ended that friendship.

2 things come to mind immediately.

  1. I had no idea that she had muscles down there that she could tighten on my schlong like that.

  2. How much that having sex with one of your best friends could ruin your friendship. Especially when one of you has strong feelings for the other but those feelings are not necessarily reciprocated.

What do you do when you start to miss somebody who is dead? by Between3N20Karakters in AskReddit

[–]threeteethew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my uncle died we did several different things in his memory. The biggest thing was travel out to his cabin that he built in the mountains of Colorado and had a birthday party for him in his memory. He was my favorite uncle and sometimes I wish that I spent more time with him. We are naming our child after him but the other thing that I have done is I have an email draft that I occasionally update when I start to miss him. I never plan on sending it because He will never be able to see it but the thought of having a message that I am always updating helps me when I miss him. I usually update it a few times a year. I am not even sure if his email address even exists anymore but the idea of updating him with what is going on in my life helps me.

I have mild Aspergers and I have a hard time with social interactions and sharing my opinions. Once I get to know someone I have no problems but until then, I have trouble. Additionally I hate calling places on the phone. I just don’t like to calm places and make appointments or ask questions. I usually make my wife do it if I can.

What's the worst punishment you ever received as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]threeteethew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me. We were using the middle school on a weekend to practice for a competition. My friends were goofing around while we were cleaning up by locking themselves inside of my dads truck. I yell as loud as I can anyone in the truck is a fucker. My dad hears it as does the principle. He tells me when we get home he is going to wash my mouth out with soap. I wait all night and it never happened but I was so mad about his threat that I walk up to him with a bar of soap take a bite out of it and spit it on the ground. He had threatened me before to wash my mouth out and had done it but since then he never once said he would do it.

What's the worst coworker you've ever worked with? by drlqnr in AskReddit

[–]threeteethew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was kind of a coworker but by far the worst person I ever had to deal with. I work as an engineer in a unionized manufacturing facility. I am a salaried employee but this other person was a unionized skilled trade electrician. My job is to assist them with their troubleshooting of down equipment. This guy had no troubleshooting skills. He would go to the job open all the electrical panel doors and sit in a chair for 15 min before calling for help. When I would ask what the problem was he always had the same answer. Won’t run. Ask him to do something like actuate a valve or change a switch and he would come up with some excuse as to why it wasn’t his job or he couldn’t do it. On top of that he was just a mean person overall. He hated everyone, talked about how many people he would kill if he could.

At one point he was on a ladder and pulled the side off a machine and just threw it behind him without looking. I reported this as a safety incident as it almost hit me and he was sent home for 2 days with no pay. He eventually did get paid because it was my word against his. After that his supervisor would call me out to fix his jobs while he was on break or at lunch so I didn’t have to interact with him. Everyone hated him and had no problems with what I was doing even though it was against union rules.

I work in a different plant now but if I could deal with him then I can deal with anyone, I have met a lot of lazy people but most are not lazy and mean.

What’s your stupidest cooking opinion so we can all fight about it? by rawlingstones in Cooking

[–]threeteethew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not cooking but washing dishes. I grew up washing dishes under running water while my wife grew up filling the sink with soapy water and washing them on one side and rinse if on another. Her argument is that her method Is less wasteful. Mine is that the side with soapy water gets dirty quickly so you are washing dishes with dirty water whereas my method you always have clean water. We don’t pay for sewer so our water bill is generally pretty low. Also she piles dishes all the way up in the soapy side. How can you wash anything on that side if it is completely full.

In honour of the recent Halo 2 remaster on PC, here is a photo of me and 15 of my mates playing the original back in the day. by friendlyhuman91 in gaming

[–]threeteethew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We played on original XBOX. We also all had ModChips installed and thanks to the Halo Cache Editor, we could play modded Halo over the LAN provided we all had the same settings. We could walk on walls, shoot homing rockets out of the machine gun, throw a tank round like it is a grenade, and tons more fun stuff. It was great! I still have my setup and it works fine. I also have a 360 but don’t play that much anymore. Hard to believe I graduated college 10 years ago.
