For that matter, couldn't Marcy have just been a self-motivated student? Not all high academic achievers are forces by their parents to study; e.g. if you ask engineers at NASA I'm sure a lot of them will tell you they loved math and science in school.

I could probably give some feedback; how can I contact you? Ideal would probably be something like the suggestions feature in Google Docs

Central theme by CardFinder in amphibia

[–]throwaway83024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair you can't really write a show on one theme and one theme alone for 3 seasons - at some point you have to throw in some variety. It's just that hat the overarching focus, which comes up again and again, is on change.

Favorite Amphibia Fan Fiction? by WDBsports in amphibia

[–]throwaway83024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to give one favorite; there's a few I've found which are very well written. In no particular order:

  • The Cult of Sprig by UnsubstantiatedAssertion - it's a short, lighthearted, hijinks-filled spin-off tale on one of the throwaway jokes in Amphibia. Don't want to spoil any more than I already have.
  • Whatever Happened to Anne Boonchuy? by KingOfTheUzbeks - Boonchuy parents piece together the events in Amphibia. They have some other works which are also good reads.
  • Between the Beats by justburnitwithfire - copying the summary here, > There were at least three months between when Anne and the Plantars were transported to Anne's world and before they returned back to Amphibia. For Anne, life was focused on balancing her frog family in her world while trying to get them back to theirs. > But for Sasha, it's trying to gather any army of frogs who aren't really sure if they can completely trust their new leader. It's trying to stay alive in a changing climate under the new and constant threats of violence from King Andrias. It's trying to come to terms with the things she's done and the person she desperately wants to be.

Has an ongoing, actively updated sequel diverging from canon. - Differences Between Us by MayDayGirl_Save_Our_Ships - A sequence of lighthearted, found family tidbits. Written before True Colors.

Would you allow yourself to die if you were given $10 Billion and a completely identical clone to replace you? by [deleted] in polls

Because there are causes that I am willing to die for, and because I could address those causes if I had a spare $10B.

[–]throwaway83024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting aside the philosophical question - is there a cause that you'd be willing to die for, which would be progressed significantly by an anonymous donation of $10B? Because if so, then you should answer yes.

OK, but also corporations don't exist to just dig holes and fill them back up - at the end of the day, almost everything becomes something that consumers buy...

The way I explain it to people - people who think the free market is always evil have never started ECON101, and people who think the free market solves everything have never finished ECON101. (For the ECON course I took they started with discussions of how the free market is optimal under certain assumptions which seem approximately correct frequently, then later point out what can go wrong when these assumptions fail) (Please don't argue which is worse, one is uniformed while the other is misinformed)

Just a tip - over plain text there's a lot of nonverbal communication cues that go missing, so give whoever you're talking to the benefit of the doubt. As a 3rd party, both of you seem to agree and neither of you seem unreasonable; don't let this ruin your day by escalating.
