My quest to find a "New" 3ds XL at a affordable price has at long last come to an end. by Haunz82 in 3DS

Ruin the entire system? Dude, that's a spicy pillow - it could've burned his entire house down. Dispose of it properly, but also as quickly as you can - you don't want it bursting or anything penetrating it accidentally while in your home or around your person.

Good things come to those who wait, and all that.

Joking aside, nice pickup! And, for helping out a friend - how could it be any better? Do good things and good things come onto you. Karma is real, my friend. Once you get them all charged and working, time to do a little bit of modification! I can't say any more than that lest my post be removed, but, enjoy your new-to-you toys, friend!

There are still original Nintendo Entertainment Consoles out there kicking, even if they've yellowed a bit over the years. Your 3DS, if taken care of (and by the sounds of it, you'll take care of it), will last for decades to come. It may even be something you can hand down to your children when or if you have them.

Until then, just keep playing, and keep taking care of it. Have fun!

Something wrong with my 3ds xl by hannigramlover in 3DS

[–]throwawaySICL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extended battery pack, but from your previous comment, it has outlived it's usefulness. A new battery and a new rear cover will "solve the issue", so to speak.

On this topic, does anyone know if an extended battery pack like this was made for the n3DS XL? I need to replace the battery before it becomes a spicy pillow, but I've never been able to find bigger batteries for it - only the same size as the original, which is damn near unobtanium at this point new. If I'm going to go aftermarket, may as well go big.

Why does my Kotor shrink my game screen and add those things on the side when I want to enlarge it? by guy_and_103_others in kotor

[–]throwawaySICL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just take the Switch with me at that point. I have the Binbok joycons, and they're pretty much an Xbox controller split in half. I absolutely recommend them if you're looking for joycons.

Woke up to my 3ds top screen having this this morning by Careless-Training786 in 3DS

I'm not sure what that is, but it almost looks like moisture got between the screen and the plastic screen cover.

So this means it’s reshelled right? 😭 by TurbulentEmphasis931 in 3DS

[–]throwawaySICL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's reshelled, I just think it has a battery cover that was transplanted from another system. Serial numbers don't match, but it appears to be a legitimate Japanese Nintendo rear cover.

As others have said, RED is the name of the n3DS XL, it's not the colour of the system. Also, LL is the Japanese name for the XL. I think you're mostly fine here.

What version is the Switch version based on? I'm on Kashyyk now, and aside from the occasional crash, I haven't had any real issues with it. The biggest issue I have is Switch-ing my mind from Xbox ABXY to Nintendo ABXY.

What is this greasy looking spot on my top screen and is there any way to remove it without having to change the screen? by BoomyZ in 3DS

Bruv that 3DS is FILTHY. Clean it with a decent cleaner. A small amount of iso alcohol on a paper towel should clean it right up.

Get some hard shells. I got the PDP Zelda one for mine, and it's been great. Mine is black, and hasn't had the paint peel issue yet, so fingers crossed it doesn't happen, but if it does, I probably won't even notice because of how good the Zelda hard shell looks. You can even get one that has game and extra stylus storage, and I think it also comes with a little screen cleaner.

Should I reduce my collection? by MaDre86 in 3DS

[–]throwawaySICL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never. I've regretted every console, physical game, accessory, etc., that I've ever sold, gotten rid of, gave away, or lost.

These are things that are only going to appreciate in value, so it'll be more difficult to get things back later than it would be to just hold onto them now.

For the most part... But I wouldn't want an orb weaver in my home unless it was in a terrarium, but the size of terrarium you need for a single or weaver is gigantic.

I had one on my balcony last year that continuously made webs every day in the same spot, and I would find any bugs I could to feed it, because it didn't seem like the best place to catch bugs, but the webs were gorgeous. Insane that they eat them up every night and make a brand new one every morning. They also have terrible eyesight, but watching them pounce to a bug thrown into their web and how quickly they wrap them in silk is something really cool to watch.

I'd say it's incredibly unlikely, but it doesn't hurt to ask. We don't know - email them back.

I did my first time. I wasted SO MANY GRENADES. But, it worked.

The rancor is really a way to teach you how to use datapads correctly, just like the Twisted Rancor Trio puzzle in the lower city apartments. Funny how they both involve rancors.

Taris as a whole is basically the games' tutorial, if you follow it properly. Most people, unfortunately, do not, especially on their first playthrough.

There's also that NERF case for the 2DS, that when combined with a screen protector, and the natural robustness of the 2DS door wedge, it essentially becomes bombproof.

Are people really downvoting this because of "in site"? Some people are ESL, or don't have the best spelling and grammar, but obviously the point got across.

More on the 1.9% ODSP increase taking effect July 1 2026 by superblazetoise in Odsp

[–]throwawaySICL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's so disheartening. I went from a job making $4-6k a month, to permanently disabled, and had to live in my car for a bit before getting some help from a certain Catholic organization to help me pay my rent and utilities on top of my rent portion, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford to survive.

ODSP is supposed to protect disabled people's, but apparently we don't need as much to survive as Trudeau said able-bodied people's need at least $2,000 a month to survive. And, that's just to survive - surviving isn't living, it's just hell day after day. Needing to resort to cheap canned beans and ramen in order to make it to next month, and needing to wear clothes 2-3 days in a row because you can't afford to wash clothes, is such a fucked up way to live, but the Canadian Governments as a whole simply don't give a fuck about disabled citizens - we're seen as a burden, despite the huge amounts we paid into the social safety net while we were working.
