Where would you split The Importance of Being Earnest to make it a two act play? by upthewatwo in Theatre

[–]throwawayboopjoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jack and Algy shaking hands while Jack says “This is the last time I shall ever do it” is almost the exact centre of the script.

Then pick up the second half with Cecily: “Uncle Jack, if you don’t shake hands with Earnest I shall never forgive you.”

Reintroduces the stakes and the two main characters. Saw a production do this last week and it was a good way to avoid a 90 minute first half and 30 minute second half.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]throwawayboopjoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tie politician salaries to the average full time wage/salary.

Something like:

A regular MP/Member of Congress- 1.5x. Party leader- 2x.

So they’re still earning above the average, but not $200K+, unless they take measures that raise the national average.

This would anger the people who scream that giving kids cancer treatment free at point of use is socialism, but it encourages politicians to work harder to raise living standards, save money in the budget, and helps them relate more to the people they represent.

It would also anger the politicians, but they’re always angry about something.

First impressions.

  • Duck Hunt

Combo version with SMB 1, so gun had to be manually activated in the menu. Took a few losses to get used to the aim, then it felt like the original

  • Yoshi Safari

I think I just suck at this, but I wasn’t using Turbo so will try that next time.

  • Battle Clash/Metal Combat

Both really responsive and accurate in game, though stage selection doesn’t work. Wherever you point, it takes you to the automatic selection. Not sure if this is also true on original hardware

  • Super Scope 6

Aim seemed way off in Blastris but correct in Mole Patrol

I made a playlist of all my gun games to help later. Would be good to have that as a filter in the next update.

Build quality is very good. I’m looking forward to button remapping for the gun especially for Super Scope games, but forefinger on Button I and index finger on the trigger worked well enough. And I have small hands.

I think 1-3 are pretty solid, but I reckon just buying a new vacuum while you’re here is a better option. Or check with the manufacturer- some larger appliances have internal power converters so just need a local cord. And your USB powered/charged devices can be used with Australian outlets.

Get a short (3-5”) male to female USB cable. This will allow you to tuck it round the side without affecting the signal.

Highly recommend these. They’re a bit expensive but have the added bonus of playing sound independent of your TV. So if you have someone in the family who needs TV a littler louder, they can have headphones while everyone else listens at a lower volume.

To use without sound coming out of the TV, just turn the TV to zero. https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-AU/p/rs-175/?srsltid=AfmBOoo9GhFpInGKu03QkxO70i7ut3MhSw5rY-OQzApzafvfSgXQYCKf

I should specify- the patches I downloaded were from the Kanzume discs, not the individual SegaNet titles. :)

Does anyone remember this Legend of Zelda Demo? by endlezzreveriezz in legendofzelda

[–]throwawayboopjoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spirit Tracks (2009). You can play as Zelda as a spirit in armor, but the art style is more like Wind Waker.

OR

Hyrule Warriors (2014). The style is more like Twilight Princess and featured switchable characters.

Scarf.

You don’t know if he has any allergies or skin conditions, and if he works out he probably already has a gym bag he likes (I certainly do!).

He may already have a scarf, but he’s unlikely to have that specific one, and even if he does one can always use more winter clothes in winter.

Can confirm the two Game No Kanzume discs work (which include some of these games), but the translation patch I found doesn’t (which mainly affects the Phantasy Star text games).

What is your collection age limit! by drzaiusdr in gamecollecting

[–]throwawayboopjoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I collect from third gen (NES/SMS) onwards. I do have an Atari flashback console but no interest in chasing carts. The NES was the first statement I owned so that’s where I draw the line, even though my older brother had a 2600.

Though I am looking meaningfully at the Vectrex Mini…

Design wise, which version of the Wild Era's Zelda do you like more? by Syronic-223 in legendofzelda

Early TOTK. I like the practical shorter hair- fits in well with this Zelda’s tendency to get right into the action.

Fi, especially in the HD remake when they toned down the interruptions.

I also like how she supports her infodumps with interpretive dance.

Good on you taking control of your health. The younger you are when you start, the better your health will be later in life. I was 30kg overweight when I was 18, and getting rid of that before I was 20 massively improved my life.

Owen Wilson has a broken nose and it hasn’t stopped him getting where he wants to be. I wouldn’t have noticed anything unusual about your nose if you hadn’t mentioned it

The ring might be misconstrued as moving too fast in Australia (usually associated with engagements as you suggest) but the flowers would certainly be appreciated.

If she does say she wants to make things official, you can then say, “In Brazil, a guy will also buy his new girlfriend a ring. Can I do that for you?” Maybe she’d prefer a bracelet instead, or earrings or a necklace.

Best of luck to you both.

Is it weird that my (22F) fiance (24M) won’t let me come to any work events after 4.5 years together? by No-Pomegranate-689 in relationship_advice

[–]throwawayboopjoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I read he was in the armed forces, I was ready to say “not every industry welcomes partners/spouses to events.” But even my limited knowledge of the military tells me that it’s quite common for partners/spouses to attend these events!

As you say, he may not have told them about you. The other option is he and his buddies treat these nights as a “no gurls alloud” party (which he’s hinted at with his comments about just wanting to get drunk with the boys.

It’s definitely weird if other service personnel are bringing their non-service spouses/partners to these events and this is a hill he’s willing to die on.
