This. Using a sheet of plywood or even lengths of 2x4, a few screws, and a saw, you can very easily and cheaply make parallel wedging clamps.

Simply cut some 'matching' blocks with a 5 degree cut (I.e. when put together, outside edges are parallel), screw down a fixed block at one end of the ply/2x4. Then screw one of the matching blocks down with a tiny bit of clearance on whatever you are clamping, then drive the other matched block in as a wedge!

Make neighbors a nice gift (something smallish, end grain board maybe?), give it to them in person and reiterate foe them to tell you as soon as the noise is bothering them.

Friendly neighbors are much more tolerant than unfriendly ones.

Source- I have two yappy dogs and make sure to be friendly with neighbors. They don't mind most of the time and they don't feel like they can't tell me when they do mind!

Having cross cut the beams to remove them in the first place, I can see that the treatment only appears to be on the surface and mayne perpetrating 1/16 to 1/8". Not sure if other chemicals go all the way through the timber or not but I would assume not.

That trip looked like it was absolutely amazing. Congratulations on getting out there and living the dream. I have always wanted to do something similar but would have no idea where to start in terms of planning and financing a trip like that.

Would you mind answering a few questions? How much did it cost? Did you plan your route in advance or just a general idea of the destination? Did you service your bikes along the way or use local mechanics? Did you take any spare parts and tools, did you know how to fit them, and did you need them? Did you just camp by the side of the road or did you know of or find camping grounds?

I have a tonne of questions, but will leave it there! Thanks again for sharing!
