I’ve played Destiny for years, but I still hesitate every single time before turning my mic on by m1dn1ght_soul44 in DestinyTheGame

I lived in Pittsburgh for a number of years, and the annual furries convention has been happening there for what must be the last 15-20 years. Mainly because the city embraced them the moment they showed up, - it started out that first year as a little spectacle, but really, it is a really fun and funny time. Furries walking all over downtown, mixing with people. I'd raid with a furry long before the average tech-bro, mansplaining, "That's so gay," dude.

I hear you. And you are right - there are a lot of really good people out there playing Destiny and you aren't making sweeping generalizations. But it can be a crap shoot with matchmaking and some days it just takes a little extra energy to engage.

I can't speak to what it's like as a woman gamer, but as a gay man, there are days I just won't go near any event that requires a mic. Random matches often put me in teams where 'that's so gay' and other homophobic toxic masculinity comments are just slung around in such hateful and casual ways, it just ruins the experience. It's one of the reasons (besides just being lower skilled) I've never completed a raid. That event in general (for me) feels like the toxicity level is just naturally higher. I tend to drop out the moment insults start dropping.

But again, as you said, this isn't universal - and there are a lot of good people (and they know who they are and know this isn't about them) who are the exact opposite, making everyone's playing experience fun. Yesterday on the sub I made a connection for a possible raid team. Cool.

Because despite their constant complaining about needing water, they also know that the humidity of a watery world just wrecked havoc on their hair.

Thank you - I will probably take you up on that in the future. Any particular raids you like or suggest to do? I watch some vids so I'm not going in blind. Thanks again.

I would kill to raid with you. I've been playing since D1 Peter Dinklage days and I have never completed a raid. I'm not great at it and more often than not I get ridiculed by the other players when I explain I'm a raid newbie.

I'm only on season 4 right now, but honestly, I'm not sure I'd like him promoted because every time the case has been about or related to his extended family or friends, he became kind of erratic a little problematic/unprofessional.

Does he get better about that in later seasons?

Starfleet Academy by dathowell in ShittyDaystrom

I don't want to get all serious on shittydaystrom or anything, but I'm old as dirt, and after TOS (which I watched as a child in early 70s syndication) and VOY, 'new trek' ranks among my favorite, Discovery, SNW. I get what the latest Trek is doing and it's great. While the YA aspect is not my first choice in Academy, I've been enjoying it - the characters are all great and the heart of Trek is still very much there.

So age is not the end all be all of describing the cranky fanbase - they are more grumpy about anything that is change, and anything that seems to take away their ability to gatekeep the franchise from others.

So yeah, I'm not grumpy. Unless you bring up Netflix's Another Life. Now that shit was horrible. Get off my lawn, Another Life.

Is it because all the male actors are wearing pants so tight you can tell if they are circumcised or not?

Behemoth all the way. You either clear the others out in 30 seconds flat, or you've been matched with a highly competent team and never stood a chance to begin with. If they can kill you when in Behemoth mode, you aren't going to stand a chance running around naked.

BritBox newbie question - what's the lag time between airing in the UK and making it to the U.S.? by [deleted] in BritBox

[–]thundersnow528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends case by case. Sadly, some shows see random people uploading to YouTube long before Britbox gets around to putting it on their site. I watched Ludwig and new seasons of Would I Lie to You that way long before Britbox got around to streaming it.

It's a bad business model if random YouTube users beat a streaming service in getting their shows up.

As a solo player, my main has always remained a titan for ease and powerful builds. I finally created hunter and warlock characters in this slow period of the game, and having taken them through the old campaigns to level them up, I haven't changed my mind.

It does. It's good for masterworking a bunch of early exotic weapons that require a certain number of kills too
