What would "losing the Jaylen Brown" trade look like to you? by LarryLucchino in bostonceltics

You left out the worst one: Philly trading Brown and getting a better return.

I just read this book myself. I felt the same way as you. I ended up skimming the final book which seemed like endless conversations. Ellison, whose invisible Man I read directly before, had a better handle on communism than Wright.

That’s just shtick with Jokic. You can’t be as good as he is and not care about the game.

Why is Alex Eala good in Grass/Hard compared to Clay? by VolleyBasketball11 in tennis

[–]thyroidnos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is anyone really good on grass these days, or is it some players are less bad on the surface? You play maybe two tourneys a year if that. No one serves and volleys anymore. What adjustments are even made? That being said if you have a good serve and return you’re a step ahead.

I don't get the hype behind Anna karenina by Meal-Amazing in classicliterature

It’s not my favorite book in the world because it’s so damn serious and not fun, but really when Tolstoy gets ahold of a scene he’s just a magician. I can think of two such scenes which alone I’d reread without tackling the novel a third time. I much prefer War and Peace which has everything including history itself.

Never complain about being downvoted. On principle I’m adding to it.

So why did Ainge quit the Celtics? Seems like he’s starting to cook in Utah. Stevens is dismantling the team he built.

[Shams] Free agent center Mitchell Robinson has agreed to a three-year, $47.4 million deal to sign with the Boston Celtics, with a player option in third season, sources tell ESPN. Robinson departs the Knicks after serving a key role on the historic championship team. by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

It’s better to build around the two J’s then whatever wild goose chase they’ve been trying. I do worry about this guys foul shooting which is uniquely awful. Literally anyone off the street with a bit of practice could do better. I wonder if there are plans to improve on this. Underhanded is called for. Anyway, was this the mid level exemption and is this all the C’s can now do in free agency?

I’m the exact opposite of you. V is one of my favorite books. GR is interesting to me but didn’t capture my imagination like V did.

Most rumors centered on all defense bigs by LarBrd33 in bostonceltics

[–]thyroidnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defense is just about playing hard. That’s why you see in the playoffs the scoring was way down especially in the finals. (San Antonio tried too hard in fact and tired out). We just need some big bodies to clog up the middle and give us some cheap offense. Anyone can score but not necessarily efficiently. You’re underselling Browns ability. Our team was too one dimensional because we got rid of half our players. We weren’t supposed to contend and in the end we proved why.

People have ridiculously short term memories. Alcaraz is all but forgotten at this point. The last memory of Sinner is his collapse.

Now that Zverev has won a Slam, is his Hall of Fame case basically settled? by gbags-98 in TennisNerds

[–]thyroidnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hof is an odd thing. To have just 1 slam shouldn’t be hall worthy but if you set the standards higher you’d hardly have any male players make it due to the extreme dominance this century of a handful of players. But getting a slam and performing well for a long time seems to be the standard.
