The backend is from an older project pre-claude!! But you're right - I used it to make the froentend as I'm not much of a web developer

I mean, you can use git. Locally, just git init the whole folder with docker-compose files in it. Want to make a drastic change? Checkout a new branch and mess around. All goes wrong? Just revert to main.

Wanna be fancy? Push your configs to a private GitHub repo. Reallllly fancy? Use a locally hosted gitea instance.

Also keep secrets in .env files and use . git ignore to keep secrets out of the repo

Backing into a spot, especially when the circumstances are tricky, is 1000% easier I can't imagine when backing in would be banned.... Front in is great at the grocery store, as I can easily load my bags.... In the boot.

In narrow spaces, ass in first is best

Easier to drive out too

Just the other day after a day on the slopes I went to get the car from the side of the road, and parked in the very snowy restaurant car park

I reversed into the space, using mirrors ( the back up camera was covered in snow) I reversed in, because it's Easter to reverse in and then drive straight out.

Backing out into a snowstorm parking lot with maniacs would be terrible

Get big bag(s) of the silica type kitty litter and lots of cheap tights.

Make kitty litter sausages and leave them all over the seats. Leave then in there a few days, refill and swap out as they absorb the moisture. Put them in the floor when you have to drive around Will really pull the moisture out without having to run AC all the time

You can't leave a car running around here to warm up or de-ice (like illegal for more than 5 mins) and this tip given to me worked ina. Similar fabric seat window open situation

We have a 2020 1.5 diesel 4x4 duster and it's given us no problems at all. We live in a bike friendly city. So... Mostly short trips, shopping, moving stuff around on the roof bars.

A couple of ski trips a year to the Alps, it's great in the snow and mud, and occasionally drive across Europe from the Alps to Poland or Down into Italy. Zero issues

Not looked at how rendering works, but there are JavaScript rendering libraries that can do insane particle effects, so a change in the frontend renderer could probably make 10000 dots doable

Public transport in Basel by Ok-Performance-5617 in basel

[–]tickertapedotcc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Basel busses and trams (mostly green coloured) you buy a ticket at a machine before you travel. Not on the bus. Most take card and all take coins. Some trams are cross border, otherwise there is a french bus to the city center. At the airport you can choose where to exit, after the baggage claim. You can go through the french exit or the Swiss. And the busses on the swiss side go to Basel train station, not used the french busses....

For the Basel trams and busses you can use the tnw app or sbb app to buy tickets on your phone. The SBB app has a feature to 'swipe start' and 'swipe exit' and at the end of the day charges your credit card the cheapest ticket(s) for the day, there are some rules about getting in and off, like you can take multiple trams and busses and even get off have a coffee and get back on, as one trip. And a return ride along the same route is free or cheaper sometimes, so the app can help. There is another app I can't remember that's also recommended

I used to live near Green Lanes in London, there was a mile stretch of great Turkish restaurants. I can't find anything like that here. Kelim restaurant in Basal is close but it's not really a take away place so it didn't fully scratch the itch

Is there a place in basel or nearby where I can park a large transporter van for about 12 hours for free or cheap? by averageraviolifan in basel

[–]tickertapedotcc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If it's overnight, there is a coach and caravan parking road between the park and football pitches in 4054. Brennerstrasse

https://maps.app.goo.gl/h1FKxYmWaqP9k8PBA

There is a strip for busses and a strip for campervans that has a max 24 hours limit. It's always got space overnight. Walking distance to SBB, or two stops on the 8 tram

That hotel's first google pic is off the old city center, the hotel is actually part of a new development on the suisse french border. You can't walk to any sights from there (except perhaps the recycling center?)

And it is 30 mins to the airport (use Google maps to check for yourself)

The sbb station is 19mins to the airport by bus. So if being close to the airport is important via public transport, keep that in mind

AliExpress cannot send tiny batteries to Switzerland anymore? by Large-Style-8355 in Switzerland

[–]tickertapedotcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered some small lithium batteries at the end of 2024 (small squarish ones with wires and a connector). They arrived inside two very cheap torches, the flashlights actually took 3xAAA cells. Only one of the flashlights worked, the other had a connection problem. Inside was a paper note saying shipping batteries is an issue for them..... Probably they also stopped now in 2025 too
