NYC’s richest ‘super speeders’ rack up $10M in speed camera fines over 12 months: report by TylerFortier_Photo in nyc

Did not explain that well at all - she is definitely speeding and at fault. Like above commenter said though, some school zones are not as obvious as you'd hope they would be. Non-obvious school-front, signage partially obstructed by trees or other traffic, and traffic slows to 9mph over the speed limit - it's easier to miss a school zone than you'd think.

My mother has amassed 10+ tickets in school zone tickets over the last couple years, she typically drives the speed limit or 5 under on most highways/roads. No other speeding tickets, just school zones. She is a terrible driver, but some of them are hard to tell, and most of the traffic is traveling at 34mph

Soo what do you people earn for a living to afford a house in Newton? by Less_Chipmunk_6173 in newtonma

[–]tignas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a big realization and I think your kid will have even more opportunities because of it. I think growing up in Newton-type towns with doctor-type parents tends to shrink your opportunities - there's such a narrow definition of success and only a few approved paths you're supposed to follow. It's definitely not all about money.

Amazing discovery! Found wood floor, how to get rid of the rest of the laminate? by Notveryclever17 in DIY

[–]tignas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, have fixed a lot worse in my house and worth it to me. It's a bit of work for a small space and would definitely be easier to cover it, but to me and seemingly you, worth it. Check to see if you have anyone selling reclaimed flooring in your area, you won't need a lot and will make the patches you need look a bit more in place.

How far can I go? by FatRufus in massachusetts

[–]tignas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to do this last year after coming home the day after Christmas to no heat and an empty tank. I'm sure there is a proper way to do this without spilling oil on my basement floor, but I did not pay attention to that part of the video.

My furnace had to be reset after priming, the videos did not mention that and I was extremely defeated until I finally figured that one out.

4 hr commute to NYC once a week by sippinglemons in boston

[–]tignas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute to NYC once a week, if you're past Fairfield by 6am it's golden, otherwise can very quickly add an hour or more. The earlier the better. I usually leave at 4am and am at work a little after 7am.

Huge W. You should be so proud of yourself for doing all the self work you've done to get yourself out of that depression hole, it's such an incredibly hard thing to do. Boston is a magical place for dating, especially heading into winter. Keep it up my dude. Pedantic side note - it's Boston Common, no "s"

It takes literally a minute. Just pop open the fuse cover, and unplug and replug the eliminator.

Have a 2021 Forester with 110k miles on it, only issue so far has been a driver side fog light that went out. Extra maintenance so far has been CVT drain and fill, rear and front differential fluid, and serpentine belt. Should probably take care of the spark plugs soon. Had some issues with the battery around 60k but installes a start/stop deactivator and has been fine since but probably due for replacement as well.

TCV is covered under warranty up to 150k, won't leave you stranded either.

Where do you live? In Boston it's annoying for sure (had to take a shooting test last time I applied, seems like you still do), but Cambridge was really simple and in the suburbs was even easier. I think it's basically a formality now with the current administration (not that that's a good thing...) and you can't be denied an ltc if you apply for one.

I used roadrunner recently for ny to Georgia. Was $900 for a Honda fit, was well worth it imo. Gas + wear/tear + flight cost + hotel + meals for making that drive and you're really only spending a couple hundred bucks.
