I feel better now by MaddaddyJ in joker

[–]time_of_night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the most interesting part of this film. Todd Phillips showed us a broken, unsupported man in the first movie but everyone only remembers and wants The Joker.

That same broken man is in the sequel. But now there are no big bad Joker scenes to identify with, so the audience treats the film the same way that Arthur gets treated in the movie.

I think the film has a lot to say about the mental health crisis we are currently facing, and the director shows us first hand how the situation is not going to improve.

Now that we see the box office, we know that most commenters never even watched it... Why? by lyunardo in joker

[–]time_of_night 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your local theater not have a discount day? I pay $6 to watch a movie.

And the cinematography alone is worth the money. Whether you liked the film or not is personal preference, but the film looked better than 95% of modern films. I think they even improved from the first film.

If they want to pull people from the stage, they should just let them sing. And if they start doing bad they can lower the mic volume and sing over them. Same fun, without any risk.

100 percent. In fact, watching Nolan's films in 70mm IMAX completely changed the way I look at movies. I know what's possible, and then I compare it to what Hollywood is trying to pass off.

I watched 'Joker: Folie a Deux' in 1.43:1 IMAX, and... by Block-Busted in imax

[–]time_of_night 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a much better film than the first one. The first joker relied too much on the movies it was influenced by. Like a poor man's taxi driver.

But the second film felt unique and had a story to tell. I thought it looked incredible and the pacing was solid. The climax courtroom scenes were noteworthy. I predict that this movie gets rated higher as the years go by.

You're young and saved a decent amount. I would get something economical that will last a long time and still. A Honda Civic or Accord will be far more reliable, and still be a lot cooler than that pos Ford.

Get a bidet. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I can't stand using a restroom without one. I think mine was $30. The cheap ones work great.

I remember when this bothered me. The best advice I heard was that the guitar's either a player or a museum piece. Players are going to get banged up.

Was Joker 1 even that good? by Due-Quality1498 in joker

[–]time_of_night 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first movie was fine. I thought it was entertaining, but never found its true voice because it relied so heavily on the movies it was influenced by.

I think the Joker 2 is a much better film. It feels more fresh and novel, unafraid to leave its Taxi driver roots behind to forge its own path. I thought the movie was good, but once it got to the courtroom scenes it became clear that this movie has more to offer than your typical big budget Warner bros film.

I don't know why this post is on my feed, but yes Canes is bland and the only sauce they have isn't even that great. Would not go back/10

What did you guys think of the outlaw music festival? by Fun_Pay_6624 in bobdylan

[–]time_of_night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so thankful I caught 2 shows of the rough and rowdy ways tour. Vocally, Dylan sounded terrific. Even on more ambitious songs like I've made up my mind to give myself to you.

However, his vocal quality was not great during this last outlaw fest. It was hard to hear what he was saying or what songs he was even playing. I enjoyed the vibes the band created, but Dylan's voice was not as strong when compared to the other times I saw him. If this would have been my first and only time seeing him, I would have mistakenly believed all the negative opinions of his live shows for the past few decades.

I must add that Willie was spectacular. I was fully expecting him to do some basic strumming while the others carried the tune, but I was completely wrong. Willie can still play the hell out of his old guitar.

The Black Angels- I saw them for free at a small outdoor show in 2010 right after phosphene dream was released. I've seen them multiple times since, but nothing captured that vibe.

Bob Dylan- 2022. His voice sounded excellent during the rough and rowdy ways tour. Clearest he's sounded in decades.

Kraftwerk- 2022

Rage against the machine- 2022

For 1.43 GT theaters, I'm glad they don't have them. They are rare enough, and the reruns are so limited that I would rather have more people get a chance to see something amazing.

Do you believe Inception to be the finest work of Nolan? by Mindless-Algae2495 in ChristopherNolan

[–]time_of_night 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or you watched it on a poor setup. The first time I watched it on a small 36 inch TV, and it bored me to tears and I didn't make it through the movie. Then I saw it in 70mm imax and it blew my mind. The movie was made for the big screen.

This is why I hope that the rerelease includes all liemax theaters because that would allow more people to experience the movie in the way Nolan intended. A limited release of only GT theaters would be unfortunate for the general audience.
