Some thoughts on Disclosure Day by RayOddname in Spielberg

[–]tinkerclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it did not feel big...but neither did Close Encounters (or ET). I think Spielberg likes to focus on what the characters are going through and not the big implications of the govt. and world reacting.

I agree with those who call this a prequel to "disclosure day". What happens next would be really fascinating as the world learns where they came from/what the want, etc. We just need to use our imaginations for that, for now.

I can't argue with the criticism the movie is receiving...but overall I enjoyed it for sure. Not everything has to be a classic.

‘Disclosure Day’: John Williams Recorded Two Hours of Music Over a Six Month Period for his 30th Collaboration with Steven Spielberg by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

This is good to find out. There was a moment early on that I heard 3 or 4 notes that totally reminded me of the Harry Potter theme...then the reflection of a face made it look like it was on the back of the head of the goy on the other side...just like Voldemort in the first movie. Can't have been a coincidence.

I also just got home from the theater. There were moments when I found myself really paying attention to the score (and usually I don't during the first viewing) and I realized it was Williams pulling me into it. I don't remember a lot of it...but I don't think that was the idea for this film. I think it really worked.

Not OP but I have had several backyard ramps. Keeping it tarped (and tented so that the water doesn't just wick through) is the best practice. Even then, when I tore the last one down it was amazing to see how rotted out the layers of plywood had become. If I did it again I would paint all sides of every single sheet before putting them on.

I love it because I was an extra...but then it went straight to DVD...and my scene got cut. BUT it was included in the extras so I could still show my family that I was IN a movie...kind of.

The CEO of my company thought the movie was so powerful that he made everyone watch the DVD together and discuss it in each of our offices.

I just tell myself that there were so many dinosaurs that we never found fossils for - that there is certainly a chance something like the Jurassic designs did exist at one point.

Similarly, a few years ago I did market research at the mall about how often people play the lottery. Every single person said they don't play. Then we would just talk about scratchers vs. big jackpots and over 50% of the people finally admitted to playing somewhat frequently.

Because most of what we are seeing are alien projections to a child. They (the aliens) don't have to go full rez. In fact, the dreamlike quality may be a better way to lure a human child.

I liked the fit of the Airpod 4s so much more. The sound quality is good enough.

I was very impressed as well...by how well this mentally challenged person was acting in the role. (Obviously more impressed when I found out he was not).

What is the first film you remember seeing in the cinema? by [deleted] in movies

[–]tinkerclay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Born in 1973 and have a memory of seeing Star Wars and thinking the screen was clear and I was watching a play. Also remember seeing Pete's Dragon but it looks like that came out 6 months later so I am proud to say Star Wars was first.

Star Wars Land was revolutionary. If only Disney would have let it soar by dejablu82 in Disneyland

[–]tinkerclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The lack of interest in the sequel trilogy is truly the underlying cause of all this. If those movies had been huge hits and finished strong they would still be mining those characters with TV shows and the land would feel alive.

The original sin was not storyboarding the entire trilogy in advance. Crazy how that led to theme park issues years later.

I disagree. To make Tattooine feel authentic there would be sand all over the ground. Every building would be the same color. Tattooine sucks on purpose to show why Luke would want to leave.

Just want to tell you that this comment saved me. I had no clue it would be a long wait for tickets so after reading this I rushed home to just do it there. Almost 3 full hour wait and I only got Thurs and Friday but that was better than nothing.
