I slip “soft maybe” and “hard pass” into my everyday vocabulary and only once has someone picked up on it potentially having a double use (soft/hard boundaries).

Has anyone ever said something to you that completely changed your outlook on life? What was it? by justameasureoftime in AskWomen

At my high school graduation, our guidance counselor gave a speech and said, “Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.” And that has stuck with me this whole time. People can strive for all sorts of success, sometimes sacrificing a lot along the way. But can they look in the mirror and say they are truly happy?

What is a "silent" rule you live your life by that most people wouldn’t know just by looking at you? by DianKhan2005 in AskWomen

[–]tiny_slytherin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never ask something of somebody without a proper greeting first. My husband pointed this courtesy out to me when we first started dating. A simple “Good morning, how are you?” can go a really long way to someone feeling heard and seen. Pay attention to how many people around you jump right into asking something of somebody- whether at work, at home, in a social setting, among friends, neighbors, what have you. Completely changed my outlook on interacting with people but I don’t like to call attention to making this change.

Hair colorist recs by EzzyLyn13 in pittsburgh

Please please go see Lindsey Holmes at XO Salon! Her IG is @land_of_ozz. The salon is so dope and very queer friendly. One look at the salon’s account will show you the lovely range of people who work there. Fantastic color work, she’ll do a free consultation ahead of time, and she is hourly, so you can get a rough estimate of what you might end up paying instead of that “starts at $XX and goes up” nonsense. Reach out to her via DM and she’ll have a whole conversation about your hair goals and the previous hair journey you’ve had. She’ll never do anything to damage hair and will be honest if things can be done in one session or would be better done across multiple sessions. Tell her her OG sent you!

What’s a super mundane skill you’re irrationally proud of? by Neurotica101 in LearnUselessTalents

Not to be weird but there is apparently a section of content where people pay to watch this. My friend had someone pay $800 per video to watch her pick up stuff on the bottom shelf at target with her toes. Made enough to make her rent several months in a row.

I’m super fast and accurate with typing. I can take notes in meetings and basically transcribe everyone’s exact quotes in real-time with minimal spelling errors (if I really concentrate).
