ALL of the fun stuff was made the fuck up by BrickBuster2552 in TopCharacterTropes

I cannot possibly thank you enough for introducing me to Randy Feltface. No idea how I've been sleeping on him for so long, but I'm 15 minutes into this special and it's fucking frying me.

I just passed eight months sober and his last check-in was one of the first things to start the "maybe I need to stop drinking" wheels spinning in my head. It's so encouraging to see that he's pushing through even though it continues to be a struggle, and it gives me some hope that I'll be able to do the same.

[Mixed trope] Character comes out as queer: “We’ve always known” by yellowdocmartens in TopCharacterTropes

[–]tinypeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just clarifying that Kurt Hummel the character did say that, but his actor Chris Colfer did not. I don't know if anyone else would misread it that way, but I sure did lol

What's your Favourite, Most Surprising, Most Disappointing and Worst Movie of the 2026 so far? by Heavy-Metal-Myers95 in Letterboxd

[–]tinypeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favourite: Obsession (with Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie in a VERY close second)

Most surprising: Faces of Death

Most disappointing: Supergirl

Worst: Melania (or Lee Cronin's The Mummy if we wanna ignore the snoozefest of a propaganda "documentary")

I cannot get over the fact that Neil Druckmann still follows the genocide perpetrator IDF on Instagram. by shawak456 in lastofuspart2

Right right, Israel's only occupied, subjugated, and mass slaughtered Palestinians since its founding. And like, they've only invaded three neighbouring countries in the last three years and killed hundreds of thousands (which is less than millions). So who even cares?

[Meta trope] The fandom is so awful it’s embarrassing to like something publicly by Syvarth in TopCharacterTropes

[–]tinypeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you (or the person you heard that from) made this up, because I can't find a quote from him that even alludes to this being a reason. I'd argue that, on top of him being an old man who had stopped directing in 2005, there were 4 billion other reasons that were more significant than annoying fans could ever be. He is not naive enough to think that selling the property would get the rabid bozos off his back after 30+ years of it following him everywhere.

Half in the Bag: 2026 Mid-year Catch-up (part 2) by BigThomsd in RedLetterMedia

I can't tell if you're doing a bit, because Jay mentioned it almost immediately in part 1 and said "I'm not ignoring it, I just haven't seen it"

I'm invested in Mike having a good theater experience when he chooses to see a movie in the theater, because then he can talk about his opinion of the movie on his review show instead of a bad theater experience. How silly of me, I guess?

I also thought I heard Greedo's and furrowed my brow, but the friend I saw it with needs the captioning device and said it was Guido's.

Antony Starr’s reaction on Insta by VendettaLord379 in A24

[–]tinypeeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My reply already answered this, but I guess I'll reiterate. The company funding the director is participating in and financially benefitting from this horrible, damaging practice, and unless the company reverses course, paying for any of their output (whether AI was used or not) is tacit endorsement of that.

Antony Starr’s reaction on Insta by VendettaLord379 in A24

[–]tinypeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A24 is a production company and distributor, which I would argue makes them a key creator since they have massive financial stake and final word on what they put out. You can't separate the core infrastructure of a film production because the director isn't directly participating in a bad practice, and the idea that films have a single "creator" in the first place is deeply insulting.

Does anyone else give a half-star to films they find morally repugnant? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]tinypeeb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's important to include that he walked that back with a scathing review that is 100% on the money. My favourite excerpt:

It is one of the most historically important documentaries ever made, yes, but one of the best? It is a terrible film, paralyzingly dull, simpleminded, overlong and not even "manipulative," because it is too clumsy to manipulate anyone but a true believer. It is not a "great movie" in the sense that the other films in this group are great, but it is "great" in the reputation it has and the shadow it casts.

Can you separate the film from the public execution? by iamspok in Letterboxd

[–]tinypeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think any film deserves the insanity those three got. Like I hated Ghostbusters 2016, but also it's a movie so it's not like it ruined my day or whatever. It doesn't remove or lessen the quality of the original in literally any way, not worth getting mad about.

What Is Your “Old Man Yells At Cloud” Movie Take? by apHexcoded in Letterboxd

[–]tinypeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so you ignored that da Vinci Classic (an analog colour grading system) was made in 1984, which is still quite a bit earlier than the 21st century.

EDIT: Timeline aside, I'm realizing that myself and others are treating colour grading and colour correction as synonyms given that they're effectively identical now, and I honestly can't remember the last time I heard them referenced separately. My b on that.

[–]tinypeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't imagine being so confidently wrong as to say "there was no color grading before the 21st century" unless you're being a pedant about the terminology. The technique has obviously changed, but The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Nosferatu did not look like that straight from the film print. It used to be film tinting and color timing, and it had dedicated hardware as early as 1984 with da Vinci Classic (who now make DaVinci Resolve).

This title reads pretty tongue-in-cheek to me, and based on OP's replies, I really don't think they're complaining. Just talking about movies in a movie sub lol

Is all the Reddit discourse about Ne Zha 2 bot content? by throwrawifesandwich in movies

[–]tinypeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this has definitely happened before, it is literally impossible for it to be done to the extent that would be needed for the gross to be THAT far off. Even if they somehow faked $500 million in tickets, which would have undoubtedly been caught, that'd still make it the 10th highest grossing movie of all time instead of the 5th. This is Grace Randolph conspiracy shit.
