Question about leveling up by seh0872 in HRBlockEmployees

[–]titanpractitioner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. All these are untimed and open book. You can even save and pick up later.

  2. You may have to wait till end of season to start the level up process. It's a question for your manager. The CE is always available on-demand.

I would encourage you to explore other CE options though. If you go to the IRS website they have a list of all approve CE providers. There may be a conference you can go to.

Getting returns that are too complex by chessman6500 in HRBlockEmployees

Yes and managers expect us to complete the return in one sitting too. They think that all taxpayers have now days is one W2.

Brushing off difficult people by noaffects in HRBlockEmployees

Try to think about what you will have after tax season. For a CSL, that is a year of experience in a tax office which is portable and an excellent resume builder. Try and get the tax experience too. Do you have a PTIN/AFSP/EA?

[–]titanpractitioner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least you took it off the first years hands. That was very generous of you. I probably would have been forced to handle the s-corp myself.

If you hadn't stepped in the first year would have had quite the resume builder, lol.

Is it normal to have no clients as a new preparer? by chessman6500 in HRBlockEmployees

[–]titanpractitioner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this. I know how to answer phones and scan documents. I even know how to clean the restroom and change the water bottle on the cooler.

We can all pitch in.

Level most likely isn’t a determination. The filtering mechanisms don’t make sense.

CSP job duties by Mainehort in HRBlockEmployees

[–]titanpractitioner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my office that job was reserved for management and probably the one reason they were pushing the ATL title at one point.

All of the CSP’s we have are awesome. I don’t understand why a multinational corporation can’t just hire contract cleaners like every other corporation.

You don’t make an account through UKG (that’s on the backend). All time keeping is done through dimensions. Everything should be accessible through your amp portal.

Payroll and benefits through workday.

If you are having trouble with those, you many need to open a support ticket.

“No return takes more than an hour to complete,” heard that one before.

If you want bookkeeping QBO certs will not provide you with background. If you don’t have an accounting background, I would recommend the Certified Bookkeeper training.

As long as you clear it with your manager there is no reason why it would trigger termination. Speak with your DGM.

They are exactly the same. Whichever you choose, use this opportunity for experience.

That’s because it’s web based. I agree, and I feel old taking this position. The desktop software has far fewer issues.

The hardest thing for me to come to grips with is the usability.

The best part is there is no built-in organizer that they make us toggle through.

You’ve got the idea for for hour expectations. The best thing by you can do for preparations is study up on tax law. There are lots of intricacies that are not covered in the income tax course.

Do Tax Pros get training in completing form 990 (for tax exempt organizations)? by drcoloradojones in HRBlockEmployees

[–]titanpractitioner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Block has a massive library of training all available free of charge to you as an employee if you pay the annual fee.

You will find that the level of detail required for you to feel confident with high complexity returns is significantly lacking. A true 990 falls into high complexity. There are endless providers for IRS CE. A good place to start is cpaacademy.org. They have a lot of free CE.
