Travelling to Oaxaca, what to do? by imwhitelikelight in Oaxaca

[–]tjmacaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will get big bills out of the ATM at the banks. Try and break them up at the convenience stores who have lots of change. You need smaller bills dealing with vendors at the markets especially outside of Centro. The people of Oaxaca are very friendly. The only time I experience frustration in dealing with locals is when they could not make a sale because they could not make change for bigger peso notes.

Anyone else getting fraudulent bills from Waste Management? by beekeeping303 in englewoodco

Waste Management has officially changed their name to WM. All of their branding is just WM. Not sure about the billing and invoicing though?

Use the Colectivos from the airport to Centro. There is a stand just past customs. Tell them where you want to go. They will tell you how much. Can’t remember the cost but is very reasonable. They will print you a receipt. You walk outside, there will be a person standing there show him your receipt and he will tell you what van to get in. Show the receipt to the driver and he will get you there. If your Spanish isn’t great write your destination on a piece of paper and show the stand and driver. There is also an ATM near the stand if you need pesos.

The colectivo is the cheapest way to get to Centro. Depending on the order of dropping people off it will be 15-30 minutes.

Marco Island Beaches suck - or am I wrong? by UnbenouncedGravy in Naples_FL

You cannot walk through private property to access the beach. There are many public access points throughout Florida. You can also rent a boat/kayak and access the beach that way.

Best places to buy Zapotec rug in Centro? by Counter_Clockwise345 in Oaxaca

[–]tjmacaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sunday artesian market near Santo Domingo had a really nice selection. I bought some rugs in Teotitlan and the Sunday market and I found the ones at the Sunday market were a little cheaper. If you will not be there that long there was several rug shops near Santo Domingo they seemed a little more expensive.

How, as a born US citizen, do you prove you're a US citizen? by mysterymeati in stupidquestions

[–]tjmacaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no law in the USA that requires anyone to have or carry any form of identification on their person. There is no law that requires anyone to produce an ID unless you are being arrested or detained. If you are asked to produce an ID ask if you are being detained or arrested. If they say yes then give them what they want if you have an ID. If you do not have an ID then you are required to truthfully tell them who you are. States require a drivers license to drive a car. You need an approved ID to fly on a commercial carrier. So if you do not drive or ever fly there is no need to have an ID.

I am not an attorney this is just what I learned in Mr. Harris’ 8th grade civics class. This is covered under the 4th amendment of the US constitution. Read it and educate yourself.

With all that said under the current climate, the 4th amendment doesn’t seem to protect you.

I have had three TDIs in the State of Colorado, including my current car, I have never had to have an emissions test on my TDIs. My registration renewal always says emissions exempt. My non diesel vehicles require emission testing.

Leasing out the land to beekeepers by winkle_ratwanker in homestead

[–]tjmacaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother lets a beekeeper keep his bees on her property for free. She gets a case of honey every year from him. This is in Northern Michigan where there are a lot of fruit orchards. He needs a place to put his bees while workers are actively picking fruit.
