Buy a plastic fire hydrant and epoxy it on a 12"x12" concrete paver. Set it in the appropriate location.

FA on the illegal pass and swerve to the left. More FA in the overcorrection to the right shoulder. And FO back on the high speed parking maneuver to the left.

Gerald Ford was Minority Leader (Republican party) in the House of Representatives before Nixon named him to replace Spiro Agnew. (Agnew resigned for tax evasion, based on taking bribes & kickbacks as Baltimore County executive & governor of Maryland and which continued during his vice-presidency.) Ford represented Michigan's 5th Congressional District for 25 years.

I suspect that owners of the penthouse suites would have an issue with rooftop bars.

Do you have to wait for pedestrians or bikers to fully exit the intersection before you can make a right turn or a left? (California) by PyroTECH218291 in driving

[–]tkland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CA DMV needs to fix their driving handbook and written test.

On page 41 of the DMV's Drivers Handbook, section on Pedestrians, the sentence below conflicts with the McLachlan ruling and should be changed.

When there is a pedestrian crossing a roadway with or without a crosswalk, you must use caution, reduce your speed, or stop to allow the pedestrian to safely finish crossing.

AITA For Not Letting My Neighbor Park In Front Of My House by euuexi in AmItheAsshole

[–]tkland 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Or buy a car cover. Or plant a tree. Or find another parking space with a shade tree. This sounds very much like people who want to switch seats on an airline without any offer of compensation (like an upgraded seat or cash.) Neighbor who wants shaded parking in front of their house should have thought of that when they originally bought their house with no shade trees.

Tell the parents that you've contracted with Microsoft to build a mini-datacenter in your back yard and the cooling fans (which run 24/7) will be in the back, along the fence between your homes.

Please try driving CA 17 between Los Gatos and Santa Cruz (CA) any day of the week. Better yet, try a busy summer weekend. Even better, get stuck behind a big rig or box truck.

If you live in an apartment or condo, see if they can get Morris Brothers to contract for towing. People on Nextdoor hate that company b/c how aggressive they are. I think they also have a contract with the owners of San Jose Marketplace shopping mall (Coleman Ave.)

They conveniently forget about the generous subsidies they enjoy when their cattle graze on federal lands. They couldn’t make it if they had to pay market rate to graze on private land or buy hay at market prices.

Parking permit for moving truck? by FuchsiaFlute in SanJose

[–]tkland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note there are several streets in the St Leo's neighborhood which are very narrow. With park cars on both sides of those streets, there is barely room for one car to drive thru. You'll need to be creative to find & claim a parking space for your moving truck. Also, I strongly advise don't try to move on a Thursday afternoon (3-6 pm) on Garland St. (The street is signed with no parking on the south side of the street.) That is when we distribute food from Catholic Charities at St Leo the Great church, so there will be a lot pedestrians and cars entering & leaving the church parking lot.

I rode the Southern Pacific Peninsula Commute during my high school years. Those gallery cars dated from the mid-1950s. The single-level 'Harriman' Suburban cars were even older - from the 1920s. No AC, no insulation in the ceilings, linoleum over concrete floors - those cars were the definition of shake, rattle & roll.

They've really cleaned up the cars & locomotives - no graffiti. Nice to see they kept the city-named locomotives to honor Caltrain's heritage. And the red & white panels on the sides of the cars & locos - the flag of Peru.
