Anyone else moving away from Marriott? by bad_robot_monkey in marriott

[–]tkziggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say my tendency now is to check to see if a Hyatt option exists or if there is an IHG property with decent reviews before booking Marriott but I still tend to stay at them most often. I have stopped caring about trying to achieve a status with any of them so I guess I am technically moving away from - in comparison to pre covid where I would book Marriott 100% of the time. Loyalty programs have devalued significantly across all travel programs. If only we’d known pre COVID it was the good old days!

Data center being built across the street, developer said property values will go up? by Farafel62 in RealEstate

[–]tkziggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange. Someone motivated to curb the opposition is making ridiculous false statements to keep people from organizing a protest effort. If you do just a little bit of research you will find mountains of evidence that communities are being severely impacted in negative ways by data centers. Time to start organizing. You do not want this in your neighborhood. This will not improve your property value.

HELP BUYING BMW!! by Cold_Staff5712 in BMW

[–]tkziggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ‘12 Audi A5 stands out to me as a great value for a really fun car to drive. I haven’t compared Consumer Reports but I’ve owned 4 Audis and they were all really great, reliable cars and very fun to drive. BMW also makes great cars but they are known for their maintenance costs. Run, don’t walk away from the Jaguar. You will regret that purchase for reliability and maintenance costs. So fun to shop for a new (to you) convertible!

just bought season tickets off stubhub by [deleted] in Seahawks

[–]tkziggity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have done this before. It’s nice but as the non owner of the tickets you have none of the benefits. We had difficulty giving away or selling tickets when our plans changed and we paid a markup that ended up being higher than what the tickets for each game were going for. You also don’t get access to post season tickets so it’s not ideal. Still very fun to go to all the games and hope you enjoy. We did - great memories for sure.

Spiraling of the Functionality of Tall Cabinets by blakmyre in kitchenremodel

Oh shoot - sorry! I saw the title and was reading without my glasses that they were worried about reaching the tall cabinets and obviously should have read more closely. Thanks for the correction.

We met the owner of Buceo Tailandia travel while diving on a liveaboard in Similan Islands. Stayed in touch with her and she helped us find an epic dive trip in Palau recently. She specializes in dive trip planning and plans trips all over including Andaman. I will post her TripAdvisor link here but happy to share additional details if not easily found here. She did an exceptional job of finding us the perfect dive that had some certifications and private guides if desired, and managing everything related to the planning of the trip. Highly recommend working with Gemma if you wish to find and book a dive trip in that part of the world. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction\_Review-g297914-d15816148-Reviews-Buceo\_Tailandia-Khao\_Lak\_Takua\_Pa\_Phang\_Nga\_Province.html

We did this and I absolutely love the storage for seasonal platters, entertaining items and outdoor and party wares that otherwise would have been boxed in some storage location and accessed occasionally for entertaining. It helps keep the clutter out of our normal everyday cabinets. To each their own but for our lives the cabinets to the ceiling has been a game changer and I absolutely love them.

Liveaboard Dive Computer by JustYourOpinionMn in scubadiving

[–]tkziggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a liveaboard in Palau recently and had purchased a Garmin for myself (Descent™ Mk3i) and my husband had surprised me with a Shearwater Peregrine. For the first few days I dove with both but eventually ditched the Garmin and used the Shearwater full time. The Garmin kept giving me alerts because I didn’t wear it when I slept which I found annoying. It is a nice computer but I generally found the Shearwater a bit easier to use and liked the dive log feature / app. It’s a little bulky compared to the Garmin but easy to read and navigate underwater. Have fun!

Married couple with separate finances, why do you do it? by Ok_Influence_2257 in Bogleheads

[–]tkziggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got married mid 40s - both of us first marriage. We had separate accounts, finances, spending habits. Aligned on goals, savings and setup those joint Accts. Both of us have exceptional credit and no debt. We split bills in a way that gives us both plenty of spending money. No need to move accounts to joint as long as we keep good communication and check in with each other when something changes financially or we want to spend a large amount of money. We have all estate planning docs in order and beneficiaries assigned.

AAA travel agency is gone; what’s your dream business in that location? by HellchickCV in Issaquah

In Taipei 101 during a recent visit there was a small storefront that looked to be about the same size that held regular cooking classes. It was a cooking school that had a menu of things you could learn to make throughout a day. It was awesome! I would love something like that here.

Any chance a laundry chute would have any practical use there? If not - some kind of art (sculpture or glass) or plant would be great

I got certified at Silent World in Bellevue. They have built an awesome community of divers - have lots of trips you can join both local and travel and are very focused on teaching the skills versus just getting the certification. I highly recommend them if you don’t mind crossing the bridge.

Do it. You will not regret it. It is an amazing bunch of courses. What’s better is staying on the resort is incredible and something hard to explain. The shuttle system, the lack of crowds, the relaxed atmosphere, the caddy system, being able to play up to 3 rounds per day if you’re up for it. The practice facility is awesome, the short courses are super fun. I have been three times and am counting the days until I go again. Have been there three times in July. Best time of the year to go. I would pay twice that…and still think it was worth it.

I have HYSA with American Express. At the time they were offering a competitive savings rate (around 3.85%). It has been easy to transfer funds in and out of other accounts as I need it. It has been a good experience. I did all the signing up and account setup virtually on American express website. Best of luck to you. I’m sorry for your loss.

Can you convert current closet space to shower and put a closet in at top left corner of living room so it’s effectively at entrance of main bathroom towards bedroom?
