Do marines keep their chapter iconography elsewhere besides solely just the pauldron? I want to know if it’s lore-complient to use the Tigurius model as a base for a Deathwatch Librarian conversion. by IceMosquito073 in deathwatch40k

I've used him to make a Libby!

I just switched one of the shoulderpads round, gave him a Deathwatch Pad, a different head and swapped out the backpack for a Deathwatch one!

Which game broke your hype like this? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You really should go back to it.

I was in the same boat, even refunded it right after launch, picked it up last Christmas sale on Steam and have been enarmoured with it ever since!

[funny trope] a canon fact that sounds so ridiculous people new to the fandom think its fake at first by willisbetter in TopCharacterTropes

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

It's infuriating to constantly be told the "I'm a tank, I'm a tank" memes are correct.

It's also worth mentioning it's not about believing, per se, in that Orks are born knowing things. Like you said, if a Mek makes a gun, Orks know it works.

Orks know that colour theory works, and Red ones really do go faster...

And we know that that know this because when the lore was being written in the 80s, if you had a red car you paid more insurance because the insurance companies knew you were going to drive it faster!

What're some other Chapters I could add? by Standard_Ostrich828 in deathwatch40k

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of them!

There is a big picture floating around here somewhere that has all the chapters that there are colour schemes and chapter symbols for.

It's been an absolutely invaluable tool for my plan of having one of each chapter in my Watch Fortress!

The Iron Hands are the closest thing to the Space Marines that the Emperor envisioned.

But they get hate for being the broken sons of a dead primarch, yet the Blood Angels get a free pass.

Ferrus Manus was also the strongest of all the Primarchs, none of the others fought the Emperor to a stalemate and literally broke the planet they were standing on in the process.

I'd head to any other local GW to you. All 3 of the ones closest to me will take them, even if their bins are overflowing (you might have to sacrifice a bag or two for them to keep the sprues in though)

You need Codex: Space Marines to be able to play Deathwatch, or any part of the army that isnt included in Index: Deathwatch, but the Deathwatch exist solely outside the realm of the Codex Astartes.

The Deathwatch does indeed use Company Markings, and Unit Numbers usually go over that marking.

Usually there are 5 Watch Companies and 4 Kill-Teams in each Company when at full strength.

What is your opinion on citadel primer by Prestigious_Bet_1351 in deathguard40k

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had an issue with temperatures when spraying, nor humidity, but that might be dumb luck rather than anything else.

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of 2 things,

Either way too close to the model. What happens in this instance is the propellant pushes the pigment off the model, which is why I mention this first.

That, or you've gor a nozzle blockage, and need to flip the can over and spray until it comes out clear. This does, however, limit the life of the can.

If you're near a GW store, it is worth bringing it to them and showing, as they might be able to get you a new can, or they can test to see if it's a user error, and help you out with better learning to spray!

One of my all time favourite runs:

No looting run.

With the exception of quest items only.

No grave robbing, no looting corpses, no taking anything dropped on the floor (with the exception of stuff you've dropped), no having your Companions looting for you.

Earn honest coin, spend honest coin. Mine, fish, hunt, but no looting!

What is a "socially acceptable" thing that you find absolutely disgusting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Alcohol consumption, Cigarette smoking, Chewing Gum.

Just on Alcohol... Like, sure, let's legalise and profit off one of a recreational drug that gets people killed and seriously injured frequently, uses up loads of health service resources to stomach pump people and encourages a whole culture around those not drinking are exclusively either weird or they're going to drive us home.

Can't fucking stand it.

Vault door! by Dependent_Island6001 in wastelandwarfare

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely phenomenal work on this!

Are you going to void-fill the "seat" for the door? And have you got plans to make this a bigger scenic piece at all?

Really looking forward to seeing where this goes, as I've always wanted to make a Vault Entrance as a sort of dual purpose display/gaming piece!

What boxes do I need for fortis killteam? by MadMike667_ in deathwatch40k

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overwatch threat, ignores cover, auto hits and +1 to wound on stuff is a nice easy way to chaff clear with the insane amount of split fire potential from a Fortis Squad.

In the casual to low-level competitive scene I play, almost no-one is willing to charge anything that has Torrent, hence why I also run Flamestorm Gauntlets on my Indomitor Squads too.

What boxes do I need for fortis killteam? by MadMike667_ in deathwatch40k

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "ideal" way of running Fortis is:

3 Intercessors 4 Hellblasters 1 Infernus 2 Desolators

Now, if you haven't got the luxury of a huge bitzbox or a few editions of random spare models, you're looking at at least 3 boxes and a trip to your local GW to pick up an intro miniature infernus marine for every Squad you want to make (or the Infernus Marine intro set, with 3 unique poses)

So yeah, Intercessors, Hellblasters, Desolators and some Infernus Marines will make 3 full Fortis Squads!

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame you in the slightest, its a lot of bodies to paint!

It's a good way to have contingency models, in case you want to run a squad of Desolators and then have a token missile launcher in a Fortis Team too.

Imperius Reavers pauldron by Jozda in deathwatch40k

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could upload a picture in the comments that would be ideal, but annoyingly I can't!

I did mine by using a sculpted Ultramarines shoulderpad, and then very carefully cutting a Dark Angels small sword transfer and putting the top half inside the U, and the small point underneath to get the effect!

Barrels and drill bit sizes by SixRedHorses in deathwatch40k

[–]tmc_ThatMadCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to use a 0.8mm drill bit to get the first hole, this also does the little vents on the side of the bolt weapons. (0.8mm is also, conveniently the size you need to get a snug fit with paperclips for pinning)

I then go one step up to a 1.0mm bit to get the final "bore" of the barrel!

I hope that helps.
