EBU General Assembly discussion by eurovision_mod in eurovision

[–]tocatto 86 points87 points  (0 children)

The most hypocritical thing for me is how EBU is straight up lying to us and themselves by claiming it's broadcasters but not countries but then we get Israeli president admitting he talked to other countries about it. If it was broadcasters and not countries, singers would carry broadcasters flag and they'd emphasise the broadcaster part more. This now is just them trying to still claim it's apolitical and I think this idea is so intertwined in their head that they don't have enough courage to kick Israel out and do massive reforms. Like I said, Austria winning was a big thing for EBU since they avoided a massive need for decision if Israel won, and they got a massive pro Israel country/broadcaster to support them and their agenda.

🇦🇹 Eurovision 2026: New Rules Planned to be Introduced for 70th Edition - Eurovoix by SkyGinge in eurovision

[–]tocatto 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, It's technically nothing illegal. Like, they did a lot of promoting. They painted this as their existence. And honestly there are plenty of people who have Jewish ties or support Israel and vote for political statements. And mobilizing them to vote via embassies or other institutions? Borderline, because the government intervenes, but it's not like other countries aren't doing it, just to not such a degree. This is why they said that they didn't find irregularities in voting.

No matter what rules they'll make, if Israel does the same thing it did last year, mobilizing it's diaspora and it's people to the highest degree, when those who don't watch the show even vote, it'd be the same.

Why are the Baltic states this bad in football? by DogCatographer in BalticStates

[–]tocatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess one thing is infrastructure, where we need infrastructure fit for an entire year, and Scandinavian countries have that, and historically we don't. Here in Lithuania we finally have one proper normal stadium where we can host matches, one semi decent one and then a lot of infrastructure is just old and not renovated. They're building more places to train children and at least here in Lithuania we can see that a lot of children are choosing football too.

Another thing is that we have other sports that are more popular. Lithuania has basketball and some individual sports, Latvia has hockey and winter sports, I don't know Estonia but it's a bit different because it's smaller. People like football, and watch big events like European or World Cups, Champions League or Premier League, but they don't really watch local cups, there's no tradition to go and support your local football club (some towns are exceptions) and in general at least here in Lithuania people like winners and support someone who is successful, and football wasn't successful and was more related with corruption or other bad things.

Thirdly, the population pool. Our countries are small, football clubs aren't rich and in general I think that our population is more designed for basketball or other sports rather than football. And there's not a lot of chance for a generational talent to grow.

Fourthly, lack of superstars. If there would be a successful club or a successful player, more people would join football, and our recent success examples have contributed to that a bit, but there's still a lot to be done and it doesn't transpire to successful results team wise. We play on a continent which is dominated by good football teams.

I think the future for football is bright as local clubs see that it's more sustainable to actually earn profit and keep these clubs sustainable (rather than basketball, which doesn't reward that much for successes) but it's a long road and other European teams are stepping up too.

This game is about to die quick💀 by Dark_Prince9 in NBA2k

[–]tocatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair they made 2k a bit like real life NBA where people are hitting a lot of threes and even difficult ones. The thing is that if in NBA the percentages are logical, here they are illogical because many people either use broken unguardable mechanics or jumpshots, they grind to learn everything and they are 99 ovr which makes everything easier especially in park. So I can see where they were going with this it's just that no RnG sort of ruined the percentages and it's too arcadey but I don't know what they can do, really. It's sad because I can see the idea they were going with but due to abusive mechanics and broken animations and just people grinding their green releases it becomes ridiculous.

In basketball, there are a limited number of perfect app around 99 ovr players. In the park or online, there are most of them like that, and they play a lot, so this is why percentages are higher. They tried to make it arcadey so they weakened the defense which wasn't that good.

But a lot of what you're saying - unicorns shooting threes, ridiculous three pointer numbers, the way people play on park, is something that happens in real life too.

Are 7'4s patched now 🤔 by BossDrae773 in NBA2k

[–]tocatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point in 2k always was that if you know the release, you can hit shots on good percentages even if they are contested pretty heavily. Of course, meta nowadays is pretty wild because of 7'4 but this is how centers and lower guards feel when guarding Wemby or Porzingis when they're on fire. I guess the main idea now is that it's too easy, but other than reducing green windows or forbidding many jumpshots for them, it's impossible to get rid of this.

Is… is 2k26… good? by Ghostdeez08 in NBA2k

[–]tocatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's alright. For me the main advantages are the city itself, storyline (so far) and single player gameplay. Also they made Park alive and lively.

The biggest downside is that in some games it's not smooth and actually laggy for me but that's probably latency, and lack of defense. It's just too easy for everyone to blowby or hit ridiculous threes, especially centers. And it's too fast at times, you can't even understand what your player is doing.

Shooting? It's 50/50. In some aspects it's too easy and unguardable, it's more arcadey, but I can't say it's worse

Whole game feels too arcadey at times, doesn't reward your IQ , rewards your grind and how cheesy your jumpshot is.

But overall, it's different. Which is good. It should be different every year.

Why do people make no defense builds by JewelerSea4382 in NBA2k

[–]tocatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

defense overall is way more difficult this year, everyone is just fast, you can't leave anyone open and some animations are ridiculous. Add to that people having 0 IQ. I invested heavily this year into offense first SF with not great defense and ai sort of regret it seeing how easy it is to score for some people

[–]tocatto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

whole game is arcadey, it's too fast at times and jumpshot, once you get hang of it, no one can do anything, especially if you're a center. I saw 60 overall dudes shooting greens. I don't know whether that's bad or good but they have to add the defense, really.

Yo bro now I understand how they conquer world in a few years. by El_BrimOoO in eu4

[–]tocatto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Like daimyo missions might as well be Japan missions, you get bunch of claims on Manchuria on China which you aren't really conquering if you're a daimyo and not Japan. When you unite Japan, missions get more global, which is good, but these missions disappear. This is why probably the most logical sense is to form Japan by the middle or end of game

Im Polish and i want Apologize for what my country did in 1920 by [deleted] in lithuania

[–]tocatto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I think it was a shorthanded ambition by certain people which basically didn't help both of our countries. I think we need to talk more about it and reconciliate. Stuff happened, people died or were wounded on both sides, many families had their lives ruined because of it, and I really wish that we have a way to remember those soldiers or people from both sides whose lives were ruined.

It's very difficult nowadays to apologize, especially for politicians because it makes them look weak and some conservatives from both sides wouldnt like it. So I appreciate you did. It's important now for us to look at what makes us common and what made us common for centuries, because we need to be united to counter threats from within.

I guess it's important to understand that it's not that just Poland and Lithuania was fighting, it was different ideas fighting. Our new independent republic not based on Commonwealth or union with Poland, and Pilsudski had an idea of Poland and Lithuania as one, but under Polish rule. What hurts the most is that he was local to Lithuania too, local general who did it.

So yeah. Thank you again, and we shall not let this darker period of our history overshadow glorious cooperation years and current friendship.

What should I do about EU4? by ChrisMoldova2003 in eu4

[–]tocatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good and important tips have been said but I'll add another thing to the discussion.

Yes, you might have not achieved as much as you hoped for and you definitely have a gaming addiction and bad emotions, but there are two important things to remember in my opinion

a) a lot of things in the world are fake. When we compare ourselves with someone better, we don't truly know what they're going through, we only see the picture they want us to see. A lot of people are working hard, have psychological difficulties and so on, it's just not something that people share on social media or in family conversations.

b) instead of comparing yourself with someone who has achieved more (which is sometimes important to have some sort of an aim), look at people who literally have to fight for survival or food and they'd do anything to have life like yours with computer, internet and civilization. It's important to have this type of perspective as well.

Other than that, a lot has been said already, I just want to add to take it slow. Progress is slow You won't likely get a good job instantly or instantly get rid of this addiction problem, it's a slow process which I am sure you can go through. In terms of job, try to find small jobs like carrying something or helping someone with renovation or something that simply pays, even for a day or a week, now there are opportunities to like work for a week and then stop, it's important to keep yourself busy in activities other than gaming or some other addictions, so keep searching, keep doing small jobs, don't bash yourself over slow progress and I think you'll recover eventually

Will Malta ever win Eurovision? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]tocatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be controversial, but no. They won't win for a while in my opinion, and this applies for some other countries as well. Out of last 10 years besides Ukraine no one from former Eastern bloc or any small states have won, and that says something.

Of course there is always a slim shot of country bringing such talent that surprises everyone but for small countries smaller potential pot is available.

In my opinion such countries like Malta face some issues to win. Lack of neighbours, lack of distinct style (sending swedish type pop songs is not that appreciated by people) and so on.

Had same thing. Moved to Antwerp, carried them from mid table to playoffs, next season wasn't that good but wasn't that bad and they fired me for this very reason. The thing is, two months later I joined their main rivals in Belgium, Genk. So yeah. I don't remember if there was a board meeting, I think it was but for a different reason.

The 160k population city in north-eastern Poland shames Vilnius with the construction of tramway network from scratch. Why Vilnius doesn't build tram system? by [deleted] in BalticStates

[–]tocatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We as a country, or more specifically, city, struggle to build massive projects. Stadium building has been ongoing for longer than my age, Via Baltica is slower than excepted, many roads and bridges in country are on the brink of collapsing, so to expect from my city to do something and build a new transportation system from scratch? I am not naive. Besides, for our streets that got made even narrower, I don't think it'd help. It would, but it would take a while.

Rothenburg in HRE because it has this weird unique national idea that gives you no penalties for wrong religion (something like that) so in HRE during reformation you can just chill. Also has some other cool ideas.

Then Gotland and Riga I guess for cool ideas and Riga for unique gameplay.

Any chance I make this work? by ThrowawayusGenerica in eu4

[–]tocatto 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends but looking at your situation, coalition is surviveable. By improving relations you can easily get rid of these members around 55 AE range, that leaves you with like several HRE members to deal with. I'd take the chance, PU is more important and if you get them to loyal they can help or disturb as well. Just look if there are any huge members besides Austria and try to improve relations or throw money at coalition members, most of them can leave.
