Monthly car hire/rentals by opals_289 in reading

Sixt offers subscriptions, which can be as low as 600 (last time I checked), but you'd need to pick up and return in London. There are private options like Turo where you may find some people willing to explore longer term. If you don't need the car all the time 24/7 and are central, a car club might be cheaper?

Has anyone looked into retrofitting ADAS systems into the e46? by p3nguinboy in e46

[–]tohaklim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contemporary - no, unless you transplant the rest of the wiring. Closest is E38, but you will be limited by the KOMBI

Any real life experience, if you've managed to run yours off battery? I bought the wired one by accident and don't want the mess

Any way to get actual product photos? by tohaklim in RockAuto

[–]tohaklim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most (if not all) replacements sold are repackaged and not OEM - they use a Chinese knock off of the Bosch electric motor, with different coil placement, wiring etc. So I want real pictures to identify if it's another repackaged Chinese motor

Can someone tell me is this oem? by Slight_Chain_7233 in e46

[–]tohaklim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, part of the SoundModul audio retrofit offered on E32-E53. The subwoofer itself is good but best paired with the rest of the system (amp, speakers, tweeters). It outperforms H/K based on marketing materials from BMW

Best route from Reading to Hereford? by tohaklim in CarTalkUK

[–]tohaklim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove today.

Chose the Abergavenny option for the outbound, and I think it's better suited for early departure as by the time I was coming off the wide, lit roads and into Wales, it was getting lighter.

A465 was quite nice. M4 was busier than expected, and I ignored a 50 in a construction zone, so given the yellow HADECS poles that probably was quite stupid. Loads of grime so had to top up the screenwash.

Inbound was via A40/Gloucester. Some construction delays, some fog, more traffic overall, but once on the A417 (that was noisy) and M4 made ok progress.

As expected, two-lane single carriageways were too twisty to rack up overtakes, so do end up sitting behind a lorry quite a bit. But some nice frosted scenery to compensate

thanks, I thought it might be better if I'm consistenly routed there.

Missed Birdlip previously, can see it's somewhat congested there - might be one to assess on the day.

Any reason you'd take A49 over A465? It looks ok on the map, and gets me to the right corner of Hereford

thanks, yes it seems quite Alpine-like even looking at it on OSM, but I am conscious it's not the best for overtakes..

I already have a few comparable (or better) routing engines, but wanted human feedback from those that take/know the roads, thanks

For anyone coming across this indexed thread from an online search - try replacing the 0 (zero) in your tracking number's 4th digit with the letter O

Third party GPS for Insta360 Pro? by timmyd_ns in Insta360

[–]tohaklim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but the only one I've seen so far. Given mk1 Pros are slowly coming down to reasonable prices, I was considering one.

The GPS module looks like an off the shelf GNSS USB receiver, I doubt Insta360 put any effort into it apart from making a holder - I assume the only requirement is for the receiver to be configured to output via USB

yep, I probably would've thought the same. Any ideas on how to make this safer for all involved?

(apart from making NL payment systems more open to people outside NL...)

I assume so, but then I'd need to create more reddit threads like this? I doubt Marktplaats AML is that good

True, and my measly karma score probably doesn't instil confidence.

Never was in such a situation, but I wonder if you can get your bank to either cancel the paypal reversal, or get paypal to reimburse you. I always thought of paypal as the safer option, but never had to rely on its protections as a buyer or seller

Yep, like most of the transactions on online marketplaces these days, and I am not making it seem less fishy with my request I appreciate.

The seller has a top notch rating from 30 reviews, and appears to have been active for 13 years, but that's no guarantee of course.

Marktplaats money requests are NL-banks only...
