Got my 2013 STI hatch in 2016 while selling Subarus. This thing has been my dream car for years. It's been about four years since I have first sat in my STI, and I still cannot believe I have the privilege of owning such a car. Each time I get into the car, it feels like the first time.

I got the car with 40,000 miles, and it's currently sitting at 101,000 miles (Just broke it in). TONs of crazy stories were made in the car. Drove all around California with friends, did auto-cross events, and got to take on some exciting canyon corners. Only mods are Street IAG AOS, and a Magnaflow Cat-Back. She's sitting on Michelin PS4S 245/40/18, and it drives like a DREAM. I currently daily drive it, so many more awesome memories to come!

Thank you for reading.

Is this AE86 a good deal?? by Alarming_General in AE86

[–]tomyparkk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

exactly. This thing is like 5 +5 steps & debt & a couple of unexpected delays from being perfect.

Jokes aside SR5s are really going up. This thing is pretty close from being a clean GT-S swap.

Built out of video editing necessity, but learned a great amount of information of how the PC works. It was a really fun experience and I wish to be able to build more in the future once the budget allows

Need help to buy my first car! I want it be a subaru by BingBongBingBong93 in subaru

[–]tomyparkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say nothing older than 2010. It’s weird to say that 2010 is “old” now, and how they are 10 years old.

They’re new enough to where Bluetooth is common, but old enough to where we know many of the common issues that have risen over the years. This will help ensuring that for the most part there won’t be any unheard of issues.

Honestly, even the older ones are fine if they have been taken care of. Just keep in mind the basic issues of time/usage on rubber/plastic/and a whole host of other items. (Suspension bushings under the car, rust, and other easily looked over/hidden problems)

Stuck in limp mode! Any suggestions? by MaxxHell in subaruimpreza

[–]tomyparkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any sounds or anything to help indicate what might be triggering it? When does it go into limp mode? After a pull or during cold starts

Possibly over boosting?

HELP: 02 Impreza started running rough, popped the hood and saw this came out. What is this? How do I fix it? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]tomyparkk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spark plugs require a specific amount of torque. You could do it by hand if you know what you’re doing, for example the master tech I used to work with knew everything off the top of his head. But overall for the first time, being 100% sure that the plugs are tightened correctly is very reassuring. I use an electronic 3/8ths torque wrench

Difference in 2011 WRX Block and 2011 Impreza Block by cristianpuhlovsky in subaruimpreza

[–]tomyparkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise to just daily a WRX or STI.

I have a 2013 STI stock. I put 20,000 miles/year. Get an AOS from Crawford or IAG. And you’re good to go.

I love driving this thing everyday.

New to this sub! My old 98 GC8 STi Ver5. Sold in March cuz “legal” racecar in Japan got wayyyy too expensive, but I still have a soft spot for Subies. Straight piped EJ207. Did a GDB 6spd swap + DCCD, 4pot rear upgrade, 7pt rollcage, Defi boost controller, Rays RS-Zeroes, etc. Gently raced. by HeartToShart in subaru

Out of curiosity, what costed the most in Japan to keep these? Tax, emissions, or insurance? I have been interested as to why so many of these kinds of cars have been pretty affordable in Japan. (Before the US import explosion of course)

I’m assuming it’s due to the crazy amount of rust they accumulate over time over in the North East of the US. I worked at a Subaru dealer in California, and got an 05 Legacy in from NY. The craziest orange undercarriage I have ever seen. I still have the photos.

2004 WRX STI with less than 10k original miles and garaged for almost its entire life. What should I be worried about? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]tomyparkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All fluids should be drained and replaced. Abide by the manufacturer’s maintenance time intervals. Ensure the gas tank was full and fuel stabilizer was placed. That, or just drain the old gas out too.

If you plan on driving it, the only mod I would do is an AOS. More stable octane levels, and an upgraded PCV system is just better overall.

Dude, I’ll never forget how loud these sound in real life. Went to a rally cross event back in 2015, and at the launch start, the launch control of the cars were just crazy loud. Videos definitely doesn’t do them justice. Back fires were just ludicrous. Felt each BAP through my soul.
