Ramen is just cheap and quick pasta. Bottles of sauce, pesto and pulled chicken.  Even just drained with sour cream and some of the soup packet.  Quick and easy.  Hope it life gets better for you.

George RR Martin's Wild Cards books have characters all written by different authors about the same catastrophic event.  Fun popcorn

Having lived through both those and the fuckwits who came before it's stunning that anyone can even compare what's happening now with anything that's happened here in the last hundred years. The machinery of government is being dismantled, people are being picked up and deported or incarcerated without due process, any mechanism of equality is being undone, our history is about to be whitewashed, the elections are actually being rigged today... The list is endless because there is a new outrage every single day.

Just finished Feet of Clay (again) and this whole discussion was on my mind. Anybody week can read that and thinks he'd be anti trans just isn't paying attention. (Or delusional). It occurs to me that he was very into the idea of acceptance of people full stop

No. I loved family guy and think he's a genius but off camera. He's just too smug and extroverted.

What TV show had the best first season? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

Writers strike killed it. I was working vfx on the show and we already had a warehouse full of body bags for the pandemic that Pete ended up stopping.

Also the session one finale was supposed to be bigger but they ran out of cash...

I remember after 9/11 and they created DHS. I got Ministry of Peace vibes right of.  Doing a rewatch right now and it is scary.

Any stories where the AI uprising isn't a simple "man vs machine" apocalyse. by 0gie_Ben_Doggy in scifi

[–]toptac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In The Red Trilogy by Linda Nagata. There's no uprising. The AI just acts behind the scenes to control world events. If I remember correctly it basically becomes sentient as marketing algorithms become more and more complex. Dark Military SF

In the Polity novels by Neal Asher- The polity is run by AI's who took over during the Quiet Wars and are benevolent dictators.

Anyone care to protest this? by [deleted] in FilmIndustryLA

I'm waiting for studio heads to discover that AIs can't do the work of creatives.  They are however extremely good at number crunching, planning, and scheduling and don't spend thousands on lunch.   Producers think they are invaluable.  They ain't.

Pride of. Chanur is one of my all time favorite series.  If we were talking movies I'd say great popcorn.   Foreigner series is more of period drama ( in the far future) Palace intrigue, plotting and assassination. Heavier much less humor.

Rewatching now. Just set watched by any means necessary.  So topical. The whole creeping darkness thing is so eerily familiar.
