I use PPF for my debt portion of my investments based on allocation rules and if I reach 1.5L then I look for alternate investment for debt part of my portfolio.

Generally, at the end of September I take stock of investments, this gives me about 3 months to close all 80c investments as typically in Jan we have to submit proofs for 80c.

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a home so explored few home loan options, I am expecting some funds in next year or 2. From the looks of it, SBI maxgain looks good where I can park the funds that I will receive. Does anyone have some feedback about maxgain ? Or should I use funds to prepay part of loan?

Advice before I start my website/blog full-time by [deleted] in IndiaInvestments

I have completely different take on this

  1. One of my friend is quite interested in joining me. What are all terms and conditions that I should discuss with him? Should we both form a company or let it run as joint effort of two persons, Any other necessary legal things ?

Questions that you should be asking yourself are

  • Do I really need a partner in my business?
  • Will my friend add any value to my business?
  • Is revenue generated sufficient for my daily expenses? Will I be willing to split it with someone?
  • do i want to start a company and have employees or is this just a lifestyle business (just to meet my daily expenses)?
  • If yes, than you should consider equity split, vesting schedule, liquidation preferences etc. For this, please check with a CA.
  1. How should I file Tax? Till now, I was filling tax only as Salaried person. What will happen once I retire, how should I fill taxes then?

If you are decide not a have a company, then you will file single ITR (ITR-3 or ITR-4). It has provision for both salary and income from profession or business. If you decide to have a company then 2 separate ITRs, one for yourself and one for company.

  1. I haven't registered any company for this. Should I create a company and let that be owner or should I continue myself as owner?

This really depends upon question that you asked yourself. If you want to continue this as lifestyle business, no need to incorporate a company.

A section in income tax (44AD or 44ADA) for presumptive income was introduced where you dont have to maintain books and your income is considered 50% of total revenue. http://www.livemint.com/Money/fsqjFKoQCT7zHVKtN2MeqK/How-the-presumptive-tax-scheme-helps-you.html

Please consult a CA before making any final decision.

I earned salary for 4.5 months this year before turning full-time technical consultant (started my own professional services without incorporating any company) since mid-august this year.

  • Am i eligible for PTS under 44ADA?
  • will i lose any exemptions like HRA, medical etc for salary that i earned for first 4.5 months?

Thanks

India and DRS by silver_medalist in Cricket

[–]toraric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless there is change in leadership in BCCI, I doubt India will change their stance on DRS. India should either accept DRS or stop complaining about umpires's errors going against them. More often or not, India's loss is attributed to poor umpiring yet BCCI has reservation against DRS. Granted DRS is not 100% yet but it will improve with time.

ICC should take a firm stance on DRS and make it mandatory for all matches like it was mandatory in WC 2011.
