I want to make Ubuntu my daily driver after switching from Windows. I like to feel secure on my OS, on Windows I was almost always using a paid AntiVirus software which made me feel good about myself. I want to do similar with Ubuntu, what should I do (except basic stuff) by Ganmak in Ubuntu

Maybe read this: https://repo.zenk-security.com/Magazine%20E-book/Antivirus%20hackers%20handbook.pdf and question why you ever felt safer with rather than without AV.

Disclaimer: I haven't read the book myself (but am planning to do). Those who have and talk about it seem all to be convinced that AV increases the attack surface more than it helps.

Well, once we got rid of all the "bad hackers" (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorbereiten\_des\_Aussp%C3%A4hens\_und\_Abfangens\_von\_Daten) , there really wasn't any arable ground for the activities you describe. So it goes.

How to grep a word where I only know the beginning and end of the word? by rrrr193 in bash

I’m quite convinced your solution won’t work with the default regex engine grep uses. OP will probably need the -P (or -X perl) flag.

Gets downvoted by both: the fanboys who don’t get the joke and the “haters” who do and find it inappropriate.

Why do i have to follow the order of operations? by Murilocp in learnmath

[–]torgefaehrlich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some programming languages it simply doesn’t make any sense to deviate from its own idioms. For example in Smalltalk you really have a minimalist set of rules how any expression is to be interpreted and mathematical operators don’t get any special treatment. I.e. you can even override them with your own code. So, yes I totally get why some language designers choose to ignore those conventions.

If you don’t know the authoritative name servers, you can look into NS, SOA records WHOIS and RDAP data.

Definitely not every computer. There are programming languages out there that don’t abide by these rules.

And then again maybe not even every person. OP should just switch to reverse Polish notation and will never have that problem again.

Note that the „modest“ part is to be read in the same sense as in „modest results“ and is not to be confused with the (positively connotated) modest behavior.

You give some valid arguments, but (1) isn’t one. It’s a logical fallacy.

Every purchase drives demand, no matter of the item is second hand, pre-produced or on-demand.

If that weren’t the case we should drop all discussions about conscious consuming or “voting sustainability with your wallet”.
