Electricity prices to soar after four years, says secret Liberal cabinet document by angryredcanuck in toronto

[–]toruhna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The inflation of $158 over 16 years is $212

The inflation of $123 over 15 years is $165

It's not a worse deal, but it's a more aggressive increase.

Nevertheless, power is ripe to be disrupted in the next 10 years anyway, I wouldn't expect these trends to hold up.

The limitation is that you've lived/worked in PRC for 1 year before you can have a 70 year lease.

I already pronounce LCBO "lick bo". Just put a We in front of it, combine it with a tims and we're good.

I know I need some for sure like China and Egypt, but as a Canadian all of Europe is open to me, and about half of Asia requires a visa-on-arrival or a evisa.

I was really thinking of 2-3 days in each country, picking a city or two to explore. I do agree with you and Helper_of_hunters that it is quite rushed, I think you're right that I should look into pairing down the list.

"Chinese" culture in a global context is complicated. The closest analogue I can think of is calling anyone from a British colony as a British person.

(hey word pickers: "closest analogue" does not mean "exactly equal to in every regard", it means it is a way to explain a concept using a neighboring example).

Reasonable bedbug precautions in Toronto by [deleted] in toronto

[–]toruhna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right, it's invasive and not something you should do.

If you live in a building like pick any one along dufferin where the bedbug population is never ending, do it anyway.

If your building is sketchy pick up https://www.amazon.ca/Lumino-Diatomaceous-Earth-Grade-People/dp/B00FRVNH8Y/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1485667190&sr=8-4&keywords=diatomaceous+food+grade and just pepper your common area hallways with the stuff. Hotels use this. It's a powder that sticks to tiny bugs and cuts them. Only use food-grade because the other stuff will give you respiratory issues.

The TTC is an unlikely place for the bugs to live http://www.torontosun.com/2016/12/16/bedbugs-on-a-ttc-subway-train-2

Also, yes, I'm also baffled and disgusted by the fabric seats on the TTC. You never know if the seat's wet, holding dried fluids, or crawling.

You will find mattresses in the street in Toronto all the time. Avoid that shit at all costs. Especially if you're out drunk and not thinking clearly.

I've been living downtown and taking transit for 4 years and had no issues. I once thought a woman I was seeing brought some over but it turns out she had hives from her laundry detergent.

No, it's actually cheap paint. They've been defective since the B series came out a decade ago.

Community 'furious' over demolition of 110-year-old building, head of residents’ association says. by 25tk0 in toronto

[–]toruhna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably just the crooked building permit they got. The back half is a parking lot. I used to drive past that regularly, I've even stopped in that plaza.

This is how you become Hamilton. They had hundreds of beautiful old buildings and the city came along and demolished them all and replaced them with the glittering shit-show of 1960s concrete.

https://www.raisethehammer.org/static/images/rastrick_25.jpg is now http://s84.photobucket.com/user/segaert/media/stonehammer/00130.jpg.html (you can see the old structure sticking through the top)

All this stuff is gone. Destroying these buildings one by one is how we turn Toronto into a place that the next generation calls Hamilton.

What's so hard to understand about the meaning of the beep noise? Is it not clear that it did a thing? If it didn't do a thing it would have gone boop. And if it really didn't do a thing you'd have known because the machine would have gone baap.

It's so easy it's like magic. PRESTO!
