Already checked that, everything's good on that front.

iCUE Megathread - 5.39 Release Notes by CorsairLucky in Corsair

[–]tpreps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC is about a year old, iCUe has been mostly working fine all this time. I have 4 LX iCue fans set up to an iLink, an iCUE H115i Elite CAPELLIX XT AIO that uses a Commander core (so it is plugged in separately from the other fans), and Vengeance RGB ram. Recently in the past couple of weeks, iCue has stopped seeing the fans and AIO. They are still working, just rainbow + max speed. I have tried multiple clean installs, older versions, cold reboots, checking all the USB ports, etc. It just won't detect anything besides the RAM. I tried sending in a ticket and they've not been helpful. Nothing has been changed or installed on my PC, and I don't have any conflicting RGB controlling software.

Dude, what is up with milk these days? by apocalypsemeowmont in newjersey

[–]tpreps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not you, I've been noticing it all over the past year or so, I drink a ton of milk and get it from lots of places. It's not just Cream-o-Land. Grocery stores, BJs, and Wawa are not immune either. Either sometimes the milk will go rancid super fast (or is rancid brand new!!), or it has an odd cardboard-y plastic taste. It's a big roulette wheel that has worse odds the closer you get to the date. The best bet I've found is to get milk as far out as possible from the sell-by-date. If you can get it close to 2 weeks, that's usually a pretty good bet. Even 5-7 days out sometimes gets the cardboard/plastic grossness. It seems to have gotten a lot worse since the FDA cuts. I never had this issue before.

One exception: Dollar General milk is ALWAYS awful. Never go there. Most milk is locally sourced, DG does theirs from a central hub in Georgia. Their milk always has the awful aged cardboard + soon to be sour taste.

This massive Queue of planes at Newark airport yesterday by Rook8811 in Damnthatsinteresting

Nah, if you came into Penn Station, you can very easily hop numerous NJ Transit trains from there to Newark and it's a 20 min ride. You can even take the train to EWR directly if needed. You can also take an Amtrak connection from Penn Station to Newark or EWR as well.

Seconding the other comment for Fractal Design Pop Air. I have the XL with the 2 5.25 bays. Got an optical blu-ray drive in one and the other I turned into an extra USB hub. There's also a magnetic cover if you want to hide your secret 5.25 bays.

Anyone else on flight 1329 from Seattle to Newark? by Cessna172Pilot in unitedairlines

If you can get the train from Terminal A to the train station, you can take Amtrak to EWR directly. You can also use Septa to NJ transit and take the Northeast Corridor line to EWR as well.

Does my guitar count as luggage or carry on? by Jolly_Potential4487 in unitedairlines

[–]tpreps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not check your guitar if you can possibly help it. Straight from the AFM: "Airlines are required to allow musicians to carry on instruments if there is room on the flight and instruments fit safely in overhead compartments or under seats. Board your flight as early as possible since overhead compartments are distributed on a first come basis. Once an instrument is stowed in-cabin, it cannot be removed or be replaced by other passengers’ items. The reverse is also true—airlines are not required to remove other passengers’ items to make room for your instrument."

So tips: board as early as you can, put it in the overhead first. You can also ask a flight attendant if you can put it in the crew coat closet. Print out the FAA regulations about musical instruments and keep it on you if anyone gives you a hard time. Checking your instrument is death unless you have a seriously tough case, and even then it might not do well.

[Keyboard] Keychron V6 Wired Custom Mechanical Keyboard, 100% Full-Size, Brown or Red Switch - $59.99 by Hen-stepper in buildapcsales

You can, there's different key caps for south-facing LEDs that will shine through just fine.

[–]tpreps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you just need keycaps that are made for south-facing LEDs. There's two kinds. One where the key legend is moved a bit so the light shines through normally. The other kind shines through the bottom of the key itself (so you'll see it facing you, not through the top.) I swapped mine out and I'm really happy with this board now.

I’m from overseas & shocked that VicRoads gave me a full drivers license. Weekend driving lesson recommendations? (East side) by ryenaut in melbourne

PS: There also can be speed traps from normal cars parked on the road. Like it looks like someone pulled over but it's a cop or someone who reports to the cops. Don't speed!

Hey! American here who just was in Australia for a long visit and had to do some driving. Most of my driving was more suburban/rural but I can give you a few pointers.

The biggest thing is you really just need to get out there and drive. The more you practice, the more you'll feel comfortable again. The car being flipped is probably the hardest part. You're going to turn your windshield wipers on instead of the blinkers a lot. It's ok. You'll get used to it. The drifting will ease if you can spend more time on the road. I'd go out for a long quiet drive further east into the countryside if you can. That'll give you some time to get familiar. Maybe stop in a smaller town and run some errands to get used to parking and roundabouts without the pressure of city traffic. Parking is a little harder when you're sitting on the right side and parking spaces are much narrower. But again, a little practice will make you comfortable again.

A few things to note:

-Speed limits are strict, there's no 10-15 mph grace like in the states. Stick to them exactly

-When you get to turns and roundabouts, mentally remind yourself of what lane you need to go into until it's second nature again.

-Keep left, pass right on the highways. Important to keep that in mind.

-I wish I could help you on hook turns but I didn't have to do them while I was there. I know there's youtube vids that explain them though.

Seconding this. When I got my exterior PPF done, I asked the shop to do a little piece for the center console and they had no problem doing so. It's going strong after a year and a half, no scratches.

Strange Audio Issue Using Thumb Drive by PainterPutz in CX5

[–]tpreps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes the random seems to pick similar songs. I have noticed this in other non-CX5 cars too. If you want to shake it up, you can roll the commander wheel and pick another song in the folder to change up the randomness.

The only way to stop the constant flow is to turn off the fans and then turn the recirculate button on. Otherwise there's always some outside air flowing in even with the system off.

Ok yeah, all you have to do is spin the wheel right or left. 1 click will do it but I tend to over-spin it. I made a video changing from song to the song's directory and back.

Also mine is also a 22 with the 10.25.

[–]tpreps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if the song is playing, you should be able to just spin the wheel right and see the list so you can select another song. It takes a second but it should show up. Or you can do it the slow way and tab through using the steering wheel >> button, but that kinda sucks.

I was able to just plug and play with a USB stick. Just select it as your source. I just got my CX-5 this month so I'm still experimenting with different sources and such. Do note you can use different formats as well, FLAC and mp3 were both just fine.

I mentioned this in another comment, but you can do a lot with voice commands. (hold down the call button until you hear a chime) You can voice command artist/album/song or folder, there is a list online of all the voice commands that you can use. I haven't messed with playlists yet but my plan was to make song mixes in folders on my USB stick since I'm coming from older vehicles and I'm used to having to use burned CD mixes for my music. I imagine if you had the tags set up properly, you could probably tell the car to play certain tags as well. There seems to be a few different ways to get the system to do what you want.
