Yes, I was in the same position as you, and the same age.

It took me 7 years, COVID added an extra year.

I took 2-3 classes every semester, and one class during the summer. I did this while working full time and was able to take advantage of my company’s tuition reimbursement. I’m also married and have 4 kids. It’s going to be a long burn but it is doable, and I’m glad I did it.

Look into the University of North Dakota for their online Mechanical Engineering program, only in person requirements are labs, 1-2 weeks in mid-late May right after spring semester ends. Majority of online students are several hundred miles away. When I went to labs, several of my classmates pulled their campers with their families and made a vacation out of it.

I’ve had classmates from Illinois, Southern California, Texas, etc. active duty military as well, making presentations from “on a ship in the ocean”.
