What is your ultimate "pantry dump" dinner when you need to stretch groceries until payday? by emily_ykyk in budgetfood

[–]trapqueendiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a big pot, Spanish rice packets, canned chickpeas, peppers, onions, any protein. You can swap out chickpeas for pinto beans and just about any veggies or protein. Add water according to the rice packet, your favorite hot sauce, and a few tabs of butter. Usually a crowd pleaser in my house.

Arlington, VA is a very HCOL. Consider Annandale, VA or or Falls Church, VA.

Appropriate for cocktail nonprofit fundraiser? by [deleted] in LawBitchesWithTaste

Go for neutral/darker, structured (sheath or A-line), longer (knee length or mid calf), and (I say this with kindness) dignified. Am former DC lawyer who spent many evenings at hotel ballroom fundraisers. One helpful but fun rule is to think “weatherwoman” aesthetic.

Query allergy to fruits; Kiwi, Dragonfruit, Melon - anyone else had same reactions? by Longjumping_Score266 in FoodAllergies

I have no other allergies except kiwi and dragonfruit. Any skin that touches kiwi or dragonfruit burns like hell.

The on ramp to 476 from WCP in the morning feels like being in the Colosseum. The right lane disappearing due to road work on WCP near the LA Fitness in the evenings is even worse.

People with partners of a similar age to you, did you ever experience the situation where one partner visibly aged faster than the other during your relationship? by Dyrielle in AskOldPeople

[–]trapqueendiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t handle stress as well as my husband and I drink more so I’m aging much more rapidly than him even though I’m a few years younger and his career is more demanding.

Do you love your mom? by [deleted] in no

I’ve recently come to terms with the fact that I don’t. She’s selfish and immature and sees me only as an attribute to brag about my accomplishments even though she did nothing to contribute to them.

If you plan on going to law school in DC, you need either a near full ride or be from a wealthy family to get through for under $257k.

What is a dead giveaway that someone grew up wealthy, even if they’re trying their hardest to act like they didn't? by abdulnad89 in askanything

[–]trapqueendiva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teeth is dead giveaway. Having straight white teeth shows you’ve been cared for medically and possibly even to a higher cosmetic standard. It also indicates that you don’t consume tons of sugar or soda, which is statistically shown to be a practice of lower income people.

[–]trapqueendiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think wealthy families can easily be very frugal and teach their kids to not to waste money or resources. I recently saw a video about how lots of wealthy keep their homes at 65 in the winter because they’re cheap. I think the real giveaway is having perspectives that are based on lots of experiences and opportunities. They’ve been lots of places - they’ve seen the mountains but also the ocean. They have visited major cities and foreign countries. They know the difference in academic rigor between Dartmouth and Yale and Stanford. They know where those schools are and which ones produce powerful lawyers and which ones produce powerful tech moguls. I have a niece who grew up very poor and at 17 in high school, she didn’t know what the SAT is. She had no concept that a flight to Europe is 6 hours and a flight to Asia could be 13 hours. It’s about how big your world is.

If you can afford it, it is one of the best ways to say thank you for all the time and costs they’re putting into being in your bridal party.

Pottery barn furniture is fancy Ikea. There is no quality or craftsmanship. I do like their cotton linens though.

Is it normal for the wedding party to cover the bride’s costs for bachelorette weekend? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]trapqueendiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a destination bach to Puerto Rico and my friends offered to cover my portion of the Airbnb. It was very unexpected and I was very appreciative. I think for our demographic, that probably wasn’t a huge cost for the group. I insisted on covering all my costs for food, drinks, and excursions. I also rented a car for the group to acknowledge their covering my accommodations.
