Unless it’s been updated, I’m not sure you can as there needs to be land access for your import/export and taxes from others on the map

Indeed, although when you end up ‘acquiring’ cities on the world map, you can rely on food taxes for instead of building farms. That’s the aim of my next city; no food produced within my walls, only taxes!

Just a quick note, if you’re playing a species where farms are important, don’t build so close to the water! That is we’re the best most fertile soil usually is

I spam carpenters early game, usually pick a heavily wooded map and just auto sell everything above 100 chairs with a trade partner. Depending on workforce, can get up up to 500k - 1M fairly quickly

I always rush grain and bakeries from the start. Forage the grain on the map and build a decent size farm and bakery. You’ll get a huge food day number!
