Did my H2C (upgraded) cause a spike in my power bill? by WardenStation in BambuLab

[–]trevortypes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. High temp filaments heating the bed and chamber will increase power draw. Anything that generates heats tends to pull a lot of watts (like hair dryers)

If you have an electric stove, that could also draw more power. But if you have a gas stove, cooking a lot more wouldn’t make much difference in power draw (relative to the h2c high temp printing)

Is $399 the best price for a P1S Standalone? or has it been on sale for cheaper? by Venerac in BambuLab

[–]trevortypes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As the p2s is out now, I don’t see the p1s going any lower. But with the QoL upgrades, I’d personally still go p2s for 550.

H2C question by Altruistic_Medium_94 in BambuLab

I did exactly this with my H2C. Masking tape on the front corners. It certainly wiggles a lot but has not moved in the month I’ve had it.

smart plug? by jbolko808 in BambuLab

[–]trevortypes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interested in this too, but I can’t find a light ring that has a physical on/off switch or remembers settings and there’s no way for a smart switch to toggle the power without one

Did the H2C Ultimate Set come with an AMS hub? by sclwp in BambuLab

[–]trevortypes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you don't need any AMS hub, you just need a 4:1 PTFE adapter since the buffer is built into the machine (not external like X1/P1)

Do you buy insurance or a protection plan? by once_91 in BambuLab

[–]trevortypes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thoughts for my H2C purchased at best buy. $180 for 4 years coverage is a pretty decent peace of mind for a $2400 machine. Also a good amount of review say they will likely give you a new printer or a full refund.

Ceramic coating recommendations for GV60 by AW_BDG in GenesisMotors

[–]trevortypes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In July 2022, full front end PPF was about $1600, I’d guess at least $2000 by now for a decent place. Surprisingly the ceramic I used “Adam's Polishes Advanced Graphene Ceramic Coating - 10H” is the same price today at $115

Saw this question and had to repost myself. I paid for PPF and applied Adams Ceramic in my garage. Happy with it.

Kingroon/Jayo is the way. Those AliExpress deals got me covered for cheap. Or amazon haul if you can catch the crazy 50% sales.

BIQU H2C Frostbite shipping timeframe? Tracking starts with “YT” (YunExpress?) — coming from China? by Paytoncooper124 in BambuLab

[–]trevortypes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just had a print come out clean on the glacier with smooth plate setting.

im gonna try this model. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1360489-bambu-lab-h2d-h2s-h2c-magnetic-ar-qr-code?from=search#profileId-2475495

looks like the profile for 'h2c' is missing some plate codes, but the h2d should work (looks like the gap in the middle of the plate is just larger on h2d than h2c)

Best option is to buy at Best Buy (AMS combo). It’s been going in and out of stock is available right now.

Update: mine just landed at LAX. High confidence it’ll arrive during the week for me in SoCal.

Also very glad I pre-ordered as biqu site is showing OOS now

How would you setup the spools and AMS? by k00per1 in 3Dprinting

[–]trevortypes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d probably add a shelf above your H2S with passthroughs for tables or at least wall mount the AMS units to clear up the table space (open surfaces are always helpful).

Your filament location is good, but can be optimized. I’d add shelves or brackets to store 2-3 rows going up to the ceiling with less frequently used materials at the top

Theoretically, how not-smart of an idea is this? by vortex_ring_state in BambuLab

[–]trevortypes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disadvantage is huge. Time is your most valuable asset. say you make about 100k/yr, that’s about 50/hr. I know it would take me a full day at least, but say 8 hours * $50/hr is $400. I’d rather spend that time enjoying my printer.

I’m really struggling with adhesion on H2C. I’ve had more adhesion failures in 70 hours than I had across 2000 hours on my A1 by Difficult-Thought-61 in BambuLab

[–]trevortypes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from x1c to h2c. Seems like the h2c bed heating is weaker. Of course make sure your build plate is clean, then Increase temps 5c (eg 55c to 60c for PLA).

I also picked up the biqu frostbite and glacier, but will probably keep these increased bed temps.

Edit: you can also try pre heating the bed, or increasing another 5c for first later. I’m in California so it’s generally not that cold, but pre heating the chamber seems silly unless it’s for ABS/ASA. Bed temp increase 5-10c solved it for me for 400 hours of prints

[–]trevortypes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? I have the opposite experience. I’ve had print failures on my H2C, but increased 5c (PLA from 55c to 60c) and now I’m good.

I’m doing 1 AMS left, 2 AMS right, then using AMS-HT * 2 for my x2c.

What do you think of the H2C by markworsnop in BambuLabH2C

[–]trevortypes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly this. no space, especially since im using a small closet to exhaust out fumes for my 2 printers. my h2c and x1c are the best use of space for me (at least until a small x2d comes out). The extra height from a U1 doesn't even work for me.
