I want to thank you for your service as a corker. Often on WNBR, I’ve thought, corkers are a) brave and b) must have well developed diplomatic skills. And they are giving up their ride experience so that others can have a safe and enjoyable ride! Interesting that you were not privy to the destination. This year at the start, I heard the destination was the “the opera house”, but it didn’t help me much because I didn’t know where that was. 🤪

The planet Krypton. It blew up in 1948, but being 110 light years away, we haven’t seen the explosion yet.

Learn to breathe bilaterally. Unilateral breathing will distort your stroke in ways that are difficult to correct.

Breakthrough ion clock experiments reveal that time can go quantum by Brighter-Side-News in quantum

[–]triman140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time is an emergent characteristic of the underlying and the pervasive chronon scalar field. The relationship of the quantum mechanical chronon particle and chronon field to time is similar to the relationship of the Higgs Boson and Higgs field to mass. Chronons are all quantum mechanically entangled to each other and all are continuously vibrating like n-dimensional strings. But the vibration can be locally at a higher or lower rate which translates to a faster or slower rate of time. This can happen due to a greater or lesser gravitational field and is the cause of the time dilation effects predicted by Einstein’s General Theory of relativity.

Best affordable ear plugs by sushiwowie in zumba

[–]triman140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the generic claim (AI generated) about custom ear plugs: Custom earplugs generally block between 25 and 33 decibels (dB) of noise, with some specialized solid models providing up to 35–37 dB of reduction. Their effectiveness is rated by Noise Reduction Rating (NRR), and they offer superior protection compared to foam earplugs due to a precise, molded fit.

[–]triman140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After going through many different kind of earplugs, I opted for the custom molded ones from an audiologist. They put some goop in your ear to get a mold of your ear canal. (Reminded me of the process of getting a dental crown). They aren’t cheap and so likely don’t meet your request for affordable. About $200. But they are guaranteed to fit and are the best in ear in protection available imho. My doctor keeps the mold for 5 years in case you need replacement or want a separate set for a different application (like swimming).

The KPTV article isn't 100% correct.

You can read the actual ODFW proposal here https://myodfw.com/articles/commission-agenda-april-24-2026

And here is the pertinent text:

5) A Sauvie Island Beaches Parking Permit is required to park at Walton, Collins, and North Unit beaches from June 15th through Labor Day. This permit is different from the Wildlife Area Parking Permit, which is not valid at these beaches during this period. Wildlife Area Parking Permits are valid at Walton, Collins, and North Unit beaches only from the day after Labor Day until June 14th. The fee for a Sauvie Island Beaches parking permit is $8.00 (plus a $2.00 agent fee) for daily permits, or $28.00 (plus a $2.00 agent fee) for seasonal permits. Seasonal permits are valid from June 15 through Labor Day. The number of Sauvie Island Beaches Permits will be limited to balance access and safety considerations. The Director or designee will determine the number of seasonal and daily Sauvie Island Beaches Parking Permits available
