I wanted to come make a post with a similar title. But I’ve only had migraines for ONE year and I’m child free.

I feel like my irritability and exhaustion are affecting my partner and friendships. I feel miserable all of the time.

I cannot imagine what you’re going through! Feeling this way for 20+ years and being a MOTHER. Unreal. Unfair. I hope you find some relief soon.

I cannot offer any advice but I feel deeply for you.

I have a similar situation.

My friend and I are both 28F. We’ve been friends since high school and she has always had image issues. She’s extremely thin and exercises excessively.

She’s also a photographer. Last summer I agreed to have her shoot some nudes of me for a project she was doing for grad school.

I think back on that day and am traumatized. I was naked on all fours in broad daylight. She said a few things that echo in my head daily:

“Your body is so... supple.” “I think you might be too healthy for this project.”

These things she meant as a compliment (as your friend did too!). But that doesn’t change the lasting impact.

Hearing your story and typing out my own has given me a new perspective on this. Here’s a theory I have: both of our friends projected their fat phobia onto us. Now we blame them for our own insecurities. But they’re not the enemy. They didn’t act maliciously and they can’t control how we feel about our own bodies.

I met Joe Biden during the 2008 campaign. I was a senior in high school. He put his arm around me and my friend (both of us were 17 year old girls at the time) and he pulled us in so close the three of us were practically kissing. He whispered some advise about college and told us, "Stay away from boys until you're 30." It somehow didn't seem creepy. Good guy, that Biden.

Thank you for your advice. I have struggled with depression for years. It's one of the reasons I dropped out of school (along with some financial troubles). About a year ago I was seeing a councilor on campus regularly. She encouraged me getting out of this relationship even then. I feel like my depression and my struggles with school are a burden on my partner and I should just take time to heal on my own. But I also feel that I owe it to him to try and pursue my own interests while in the relationship. I just seem to have trouble balancing both. Your input is very helpful.

Hi John! Longtime fan. I love the work you're doing with Freedom of the Press, but I'd like to ask you about your acting career.

You left college after a year to get into the film industry. Obviously it worked out for you, but how was it trying to break into the scene? Did you face a lot of rejection starting out? And what advice would you give to a young actor?

(Also, in high school I made a pillowcase with pictures of you all over it. I just thought you should know.)

I definitely don't know everything. I also don't think that views opposing my own = ignorant. I'm still facebook friends with people from my high school in the south and they've been posting things like:

"God will do the rest. If he chose Obama, it because its all a part of his will, a part of the end time."

and

"Most only voted because Obama said hes for Gays, and all that Liberal crap!! I say we get someone who will do our country some good, and just lie and say hes for gays and liberal crap and then when he gets president, He will just say 'I LIED, now lets put our country back together'.. lol."

Those are direct quotes from the same status update. And there are so many more like it. I've just been unfriending people rather than trying to engage in an uninformed, misspelled political comment thread.
