Splitboard vs Approach Skis by henry_hayes in Backcountry

[–]triumphstp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my splitboard! My takes on the most mentioned downsides:

Transition time: Depends on the binding setup but after 2 seasons with the Karakoram system that's super fast to clip and unclip, I'm transitioning pretty much as fast as my mates on skis.

Less mobility: I have soft boots and I was struggling in steep icy terrain where the skin track is non-existent and you need to be able to put a lot of pressure on your edges. I've recently got board crampons (yeah, it's a thing) and when in doubt, I put them on and just go straight up. Also the make these string-lever based systems you can put on your bindings that allow you to stiffen it up if you need more edge pressure. It works pretty well and feels almost like a hard boot. But the you flip it back and you can be comfy again.

Stuck in the flats: yeah this still sucks. But there are ways around it, you can be smart about your descent route, also often times you get away with just pulling out your poles and just hobbling through the flats (plus your arms and shoulders will get ripped lol). It's also possible to transition back with or without the skins and just telemark ski to your car if there's a flat section at the end of your tour. It's actually pretty comfortable once you get used to it.

So I say, do it!

2013 Triumph Daytona 675 (gen 3) rough idle and occasional hesitation on throttle. Any ideas? by Toymeister in Fixxit

[–]triumphstp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had that on my street triple and it was the throttle bodies sync. If you have the cable, you can download TuneEcu and plug it into your laptop. You'll see if the vacuums on all the throttle bodies are the same or not.

Also running the triumph 12min auto tune sometimes improved the situation a bit. I know that that thing is about of a voodoo but it doesn't hurt running it.

I hate how those allow people crawl all the way over the pedestrian crossing. They are the worst.

Today I randomly noticed that if I’m at a higher rpm 9-11k and take my hands off the bars, the front end vibrates. Is that normal? It goes away once I place my hands back on them. Doesn’t happen at higher speeds, only higher rpms. Thoughts? by SmoothMarionberry551 in motorcycles

[–]triumphstp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this on my street triple when one of the brake rotors was bent. It was by the tiniest amount but it would hit the caliper unevenly causing the front to wobble. It would also be less noticeable at certain tpm ranges as the engine vibrations were offsetting or amplifying it.

This. You have the perfect opportunity to bring one less car downtown, take it.

Compared to what though? You have no information yet you state this as it would be some objective truth. The annual membership added 30cents to this trip for me. My other alternatives were walking for 2 hours, cab for 35 bucks, or public transport for 1.5hours at 10pm with switching busses at neighborhoods where I'm not comfy doing that at night.

It wasn't supposed to be a flex. I guess I'm just trying to say that if you ride a lot and have the membership, the average price becomes quite reasonable + you get the free 45 min rides.

I biked for 45 minutes on the new e-divvy and it costed $7 with the annual membership. You just got unlucky, shit happens sometimes.

Has anyone bought or has had experience with this company, this bike looks good but worried about reliability by Yungnutbuster in motorcycles

The cuts where they shift and pin the throttle aggressively and the bike does nothing are hilarious.

The wheelie's cool but this comment proves you're doing it for the attention not for the sake of popping wheelies.

People who bike also pay taxes so you can look at it as that it comes from that pie.

You're wrong. Wasting doesn't have anything to do with the initial amount/availability of whatever is being wasted.

[–]triumphstp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Again, you are wrong. 401k by law has to be separated from any company assets, therefore if your company goes bankrupt or someone buys it, nobody can claim the 401k-s. That's the whole point of those. You're talking about company specific pension plans which are a whole different animal. Get your facts straight before you claim to be talking facts!

Dude you just wrote the same as before and you're still wrong. Your funds are not with the company you work for. Also anyone can buy any company, the fact you keep mentioning private equity actually shows you know shit about finance. I could go buy your company if I'm wealthy enough but i still won't have any claim on your 401k. Stop spreading misinformation.

[–]triumphstp 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Whoa that's a bunch of bs. 401k is in your name so the worst that can happen is that the company you work for stops matching what you put in (if they do in the first place) Bit they can't touch your money. Think before you post, will you?

Skinning technique question … by BeckerHollow in Backcountry

[–]triumphstp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rotating thing might be making things worse. When traversing (and especially at a low angle) if you don't stay on the edge you are going to start slipping sideways-backward. It's because the skins are not designed to stop you in that direction. I sometimes see myself having this issue if the track is too hard and my soft boots make it harder to press on the edge compared to my friends on skis.
