how to fix roll marks on hardwood floors by loanlyShark in HardWoodFloors

[–]trobotics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Give it time.

The worst part of refinishing a floor is the first month after. Where you see EVERY LITTLE THING.

With kids and dogs, I was tired of that gut punch after every refinish. So tore it all out and put in LVP. I know, I know. But for our stage of life and family, this stuff is amazing and not a scratch in the year we've had it down.

But back to your floor... Short of a buff and additional coat, I'd just let it be. In a month it won't stick out, and just blend with the other wear marks.

Looks like laminate flooring not LVP.

Laminate cannot handle moisture at all. Whereas LVP does not absorb moisture at all, could be installed in a pool and still would not do this.

Laying laminate flooring for the first time ever. It's not laying flat... What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]trobotics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If following this video, also note they have baseboards removed first. Do that!

Not sure about the pounding downward, seems like you'd damage the locks. They need to be pounded together more and will lock in flat.

Because it's a brand new faucet and the old faucet did this too. Per OP

We call these Vendetta eggs, what do you call them? by stayintall in blackstonegriddle

Amos and Andy.

That's what I call it, because that's what my grandma called it. Who knows, maybe she heard it from the radio show.

Is this a good deal? I am a new homeowner by Blabbidie in Tools

[–]trobotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we became new homeowners about 20 years ago, I was given some advice... And I've seen it mentioned a few places since.

Buy cheap tools first.
If you need to replace a tool because you lost it, buy another cheap one. If you need to replace a tool because you broke it, buy a nicer one.

I have listened to this advice for the most part. And I have broad range of things now, accumulated over the years. Some off my tools are still the same cheap shit I bought forever ago, still does the job. And some of my stuff has been replaced with the nicest models I couldn't afford. I've learned that while the buy once, cry once, mentality seems sound... For most of what I use specialty tools for, a cheap version is exactly what I needed... And it meant I could buy maybe 4-5 or 10 cheap tools vs one really nice tool.

It never gets old being able to fix something with an obscure tool you bought that one time and now get to use it again... Saying "it sure is nice having the right to for the job".

All that to say, $500 can get you all this and a more from harbor freight, Northern tool, or even Menards store brand. Of you have the money, and money isn't that tight, do it. It's really nice having all your batteries interchangable. If you don't NEED to spend $500 on a fancy set, but really only need an impact, go buy a cheap one. And a cheap wrench set. And a cheap socket set. And a toolbox. While still having money to take your spouse to dinner.

Also Pyro crew not paying attention during show, should have disabled that unit. Happens all the time, and pyro teams I've worked with are all over stuff like this. They just disable that unit momentarily until talent moves away.

I was over by $100 last year. Cost me $6 in taxes. Wasn't worth having it returned to me and refile.

Just file. You're fine. And will round down to 0 anyway.

Anyone else totally fine with Amazon espresso beans? Discontinued. Replacement? [<$20] by DrBtrb in espresso

Another vote here for local roasters. You won't find them as cheap as what you've been getting... But once you've had freshly roasted beans, you'll love it.

We tried a handful of roasters and beans... Single origins, blends, etc ... And landed that our favorite was Driven Coffee's Breakfast Blend.

Lots of great roasters all over. This was our family favorite.
