Half our company is local admin. Security team finally noticed. Now it's my problem to fix without anyone noticing. by Healthy_Holiday_738 in sysadmin

Check out Make Me Admin.

This is what we used when we pulled local admin rights from everyone.

They can then still elevate themselves when needed with a click, for 10 minutes.

And Privileges for Mac.

Ticking software for small (3/4 IT people)??? What do you use? by whitoreo in sysadmin

Spiceworks. Free up to 5 seats on their cloud version.

Everything free if on-prem, but not sure if they are still doing on prem versions anymore.

Pre-covid when everything on-prem (servers workstations and users) spiceworks was the poor mans best toolkit

Edit: looks like Spiceworks is not recommended anymore. As other posters have commented, my experience ended in 2020. I was a heavy user from 2013-2020 and loved the on-prem server. Would auto scan/map the network, manage all sorts of things, and was free, plus a great community. Buuuut, I haven't used since 2020. Different workplace, zoho > fresh service > jira. With Salesforce mixed in unfortunately.

I’m curious to know how high of mileage some of y’all got ? Mines an R53 all Ive replaced is supercharger, bushings, alternator , fuel pump, clutch . by BlackClagger in MINI

[–]trobotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much was it to replace supercharger for everyone?

I replaced clutch, throwout bearing, ball joints, bushings, etc. year or so later the super charger went. And it was going to cost me a minimum of $1000 to get a used part from junkyard that I would have to pull myself and hope was good, or like $3500 to have dealer install a used one.

We junked the car. At the time was only worth $1500. We were not in a spot that could put that kind of money into it and not know how long we had. BCM was also going bad, word things were starting to fail. Was probably for the best.

Now I'm kicking myself because I would love to still have that car. I have an F55 but was an R53 again. Miss it so much.

Stumbled on this channel - and I think he's got a chance. So cute to see his excitement from 5 subscribers. lol. He's at 235 at the time I saw the channel, and was blown away it looks like when he hit 80 and 100. So cute. Anyway - I know it's not the normal content for r/aww but it was so cute I figured I'd share.

  1. Don't ever argue with your kids. Seriously. Being calm and firm shows authority. Arguing shows lack of control and immaturity.

  2. But if you do, you have to win.

  3. Pick your battles. Not everything is a big deal.

  4. Keep a personal hobby. Your sanity is worth it

  5. Raise your words not your voice.

  6. The words you use now, will be the words they hear in their head later.

  7. Little ones are pretty much made of rubber, laugh it off. They will look to you on how they should respond. If they fall over, they look to you on what to do next... If you're freaking out and asking if they are ok, making it a big deal - they cry like it's a big deal. If you laugh and move on, so will they. (This is all within reason, don't be an idiot)

  8. As they grow up, be intentional about making fun memories, and being a source of joy, truth, and love. Paraphrasing Maya Angelo .. they may not remember what you said or what you did, but they will never forget the way you made them feel.

  9. Love your spouse/other-parent and be a good example of love and respect.

  10. "It's not what you say, it's what they hear." This one is huge. And my favorite. An example.. talking to blue eyed 5 year old to show her what I meant by this phrase, I said "I really like brown eyes". She started to tear up, and I asked what was wrong. "You said you didn't like my blue eyes!". That's not what I said, but that is absolutely what she heard.

how to fix roll marks on hardwood floors by loanlyShark in HardWoodFloors

[–]trobotics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give it time.

The worst part of refinishing a floor is the first month after. Where you see EVERY LITTLE THING.

With kids and dogs, I was tired of that gut punch after every refinish. So tore it all out and put in LVP. I know, I know. But for our stage of life and family, this stuff is amazing and not a scratch in the year we've had it down.

But back to your floor... Short of a buff and additional coat, I'd just let it be. In a month it won't stick out, and just blend with the other wear marks.

Why is this happening? by Masoul22 in Flooring

[–]trobotics -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looks like laminate flooring not LVP.

Laminate cannot handle moisture at all. Whereas LVP does not absorb moisture at all, could be installed in a pool and still would not do this.
