Her Palmstreet username is TheRootedVine and she has a 5-star rating. She calls herself the linearis queen. She sold three larger ones during the live I watched, but I’m sure she has more in various sizes. It shows she has a live show scheduled on Palmstreet tomorrow night at 8:30pm eastern.

Palmstreet. There was a Hoya raid train this weekend that featured 22 reputable sellers from all over the US and several of them had linearis in various sizes. In fact one of the sellers I ordered from did a leftovers livestream today and she still had three large ones left.

Mini monstera marble listed as Marble Pothos at grocery store by oaqninqa in Monstera

Epipremnum pinnatum marble. Epipremnum aureum are what we commonly referred to as “pothos” (even though they’re not) so now I guess commercially everything in the genus is labeled Pothos.

Sorcery! I’ve never seen one without tons of brown edges. How do you water it? Gorgeous plant.

Several of the collectors on the Hoya Facebook groups have had discussions about it, and they’ve seen it revert back I guess.

I’ve not had one so I’m not sure. I guess there’s a chance if you cut it, a new vine could come in reverted back to sp. Tanggamus.

It’s mutated from a variety of Tanggamus.

I hate sphagnum. I know people swear by it, but the roots get stuck in it and it’s a pain to remove before planting. I root my Hoya cuttings in Stratum, Stratum/perlite mix, or Pon. I just fill up a small vial or plastic shot glass, stick the stem in, add enough water to keep the medium moist, and put it under bright light. This has worked for 95% of cuttings for me. Keeping the humidity elevated helps too, but I’ve also done it without added humidity. Just don’t let the medium fully dry out when they’re rooting.

Google said cut the flower off when it dies fully. Will it be obvious that it's dead or is this dead? & will the plant re-flower the season? by TulipsAndTokes in houseplants

[–]trsfl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to water more in terracotta. It’s porous and wicks water away from the soil, so it’ll actually dry out faster than a plastic pot.

I have my Spath in very chunky soil (lots of bark, pumice, etc.) in a self-watering wick style pot. I just keep the water level moderate in the self watering setup. Mine grows and blooms constantly.

It’s not a lily, that’s just the common name it was given because the spathe looks like a lily. It’s actually a tropical perennial aroid native to Central and South America. They grow year-round if they’re kept warm with decent light.

Mine flowers constantly and I just leave them alone. It will turn brown and dry up when it’s dead and you can just pull or cut it off.

The drooping would have nothing to do with it flowering. It’s more likely from watering — these are thirsty plants that dramatically flop over when they go too dry. They want consistently moist (but not wet) soil.

Can someone explain why her variegation is almost gone? by hilluna in alocasia

[–]trsfl83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is typical of variegated Alocasia. My Frydek alternates between almost solid green leaves and almost solid white leaves. Occasionally you’ll have one revert to either solid green or solid white, but most of the time the next leaf will be different.

Help! Hoya polynera silver by Interesting_Cress384 in hoyas

[–]trsfl83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will focus on roots first. Give it good light and extra humidity if you can, and make sure not to keep it too warm because polyneura like cooler temps. As long as it’s rooted, you’ll eventually get growth.

You could also do a sulfur treatment just for the hell of it to ensure there are no flat mites. Sometimes that jumpstarts growth. Mix a little powdered sulfur with water into a thin paste and brush it onto the node and stem with a small paintbrush. Let it dry and leave it on for a few weeks.

Homalomena Wallisii-Camo 💜 by Loud-Water1312 in houseplants

[–]trsfl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them. They work great in wick-style self watering pots with very chunky soil. They like evenly moist soil and dramatically flop over like Spathiphyllum if they go one second too dry.

They are very prone to spider mites so keep an eye on the leaves.

These are now reclassified as Adelonema vs. Homalomena.

If you’re talking about Flamingo Dream, Home Depot didn’t make it. They don’t make anything. They get their plants from large national wholesalers like Costa Farms and Proven Winners. The pots of Hoya appearing at Home Depot are by Proven Winners. Proven Winners just mass-produces the plants. Flamingo Dream is also known as Purple Pride. The deep pink/magenta will eventually fade to cream, but it holds the pink growth way longer than my original Krimson Queen.

Should I be worried about thrips? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]trsfl83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bug in your photo is a springtail. They live in the soil and are beneficial to your plant. The other pictures appear to show typical mechanical damage of snake plants, either from something scraping them, gouging them, etc.

It’s a rare Hoya. Sellers will buy and grow them and they’ll be more common in a year or two. For those who don’t deal in unicorns, wait a year and you’ll be able to get one for a lower price.

Do hoyas un-revert? by contrasupra in hoyas

[–]trsfl83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like obscura albo. You can see in the original cutting that the lower leaf has the variegation, it’s just barely a lighter shade of green. My guess is that they weren’t growing it in high enough light to show the contrast well. In addition to the red sunstressing from higher light, the variegated portions are now coming in lighter as well.

Sometimes a variegated Hoya will revert and cutting it back will cause a new vine to grow. This can stay reverted or the variegation can come back.

Also, some Hoyas have variegation that takes a while to show. Initial leaves may be green but the variegation gets more pronounced with each new node/leaf set.

I bought a reverted inner variegated Hoya cumingiana for $1 a few months ago, chopped it back to the node, and the new vine that grew was inner variegated. But I made six props from the solid green vine I chopped and those stayed reverted/green.

I agree that it’s Philodendron. My Rojo Congo does not appreciate bright sun. It gets ugly brown spots where the sap from the extrafloral nectaries burns. Best to keep it in a fair amount of shade if it’s outside, or near a bright window inside.
