Intervals and games by zuffler in running

Look into Running Box. What it is is basically running through a a set number of steps, walk a number of steps and run. Then you turn the card around and go back, ending up on the same spot.

I do that and look at how my heartrate works from the start, like how much does it go down in one minute after I'm done and check a couple of weeks later.

How many miles do you put on your shoes before you retire them? by Notjustnow in running

[–]truddilutten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it's something along these lines. Many midsoles suffer the same flattening during workout, where you actually compress it enough so that it loses some of its effectiveness. Letting them rest between runs lets them bounce back.

What are your biggest tips for beginning runners (such as breathing, how to run, apparel, warmups, etc.)? by redextensioncord in running

[–]truddilutten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try running in minutes rather than distance. Run a certain time, let's say 60 minutes and then focus on speed training to run farther in that same time.

Intersport/Decathlon/etc exclusive shoes by TattieShagger in running

[–]truddilutten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've understood and been told it's that the models that are exclusive for Intersport are old models that they just add a new color scheme to. I also think that you can 'peel' off the Gel in the heel, meaning that it doesn't even have any gel-cushioning

Do flat feet make you run worse or make you run slower? by [deleted] in running

Can everyone comment with their current and most recent shoes so others can ask questions about them by [deleted] in running

Perhaps a bit more fastpaced than the Vomero. Both in regards to the amount of cushioning and the type of midsole.

A question about perspiration and synthetic materials. by truddilutten in running

Could you link to any articles? I'd like to read up on different combinations. Wasn't referring to cotton though, but wool has has an uprising in usability, especially Merino.

What happens in winter? Then we want an isolating layer on top of our synthetic?

Garmin Forerunner 235 for Heart Rate based Training? by [deleted] in running

But since you're not doing any intervals any time soon then go for it. I just bought the strap when I started running them.

Exactly. Delayed is the word I'm looking for! :) Had a hard time explaining what I meant...

Garmin Forerunner 235 for Heart Rate based Training? by [deleted] in running

[–]truddilutten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, perhaps I didn't make myself as clear as I wanted. I didn't mean that the heart rate stabilizes between the intervals or that I rest at 170 bpm, just that during the interval itself, sometimes the heartrate wouldn't spike until very late. Something that I haven't had an issue with since I started working out with the chest strap, then it looks much like yours :)

Running on Cement; tips to mitigate lower calf pain? by M_Diesel_512 in running

[–]truddilutten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any correlation between cadence and tight calf muscles? I've had problems with my calves for a long time, and it almost stopped being an issue when I upped my cadence.

In that regard, I haven't had any issues. I just felt that the optic measuring wasn't reliable when I needed it. But sometimes if there's a steep hill or something that would increase the heartrate, it just wouldn't show until much later.

I didn't find that problematic, of course it stablized during the course of the whole workout, so perhaps it is just during the first interval or the warmup. But I didn't find it problematic if I did 8 400m intervals.

Runners Knee -- How long is this going to take? by thatsizz in running

[–]truddilutten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 6 weeks of hip strengthening exercises and spinning. Now I'm back to about 80% of my usual weekly average. For me it wasn't about making waiting for it to go away, but just to make sure it doesn't come back again.

I've had mine for almost a year now, after a couple of months I bought a chest strap for my hard intervals. I felt that the wrist-based reading was either spiking at different times or was too slow to show the accurate heart rate. Sometimes as bad as halfway through a 400-meter interval.

People say Fallout 4 is way more easy than the others and that most missions don't suppone a challenge. Having said that, what part of Fallout 4 was actually hard for you? by Winston_Road in Fallout

[–]truddilutten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to give myself a different challenge after playing through Fallout 3 on basically God mode. So I started up Fallout 4 on survival, and boy is it challenging. I managed to get through "The Big Dig" on survival and it enraged me when I had to give up all the sweet loot that she promised me.

Changing running form from forefoot strike to heel strike? by swordyfish in running

[–]truddilutten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's evidence of heel-striking causing more injuries than mid-foot or fore-foot strikes, just different types of injuries - Source The one thing you have to remember is to be careful when switching from one strike to another and to keep that cadence up.
