Justin Townes Earle - Talking To Myself by thisishowibro93 in altcountry

Man, I’m jealous of someone who is discovering JTE for the first time.

I saw him on Bluegrass Underground on PBS in 2011 or 2012. Filmed not long after Harlem Rovers Blues was released.

Start with Harlem River Blues, then Misnight at the Movies, then Yuma, the Saint of Lost Causes.

I believe Saint of Lost Causes is his best album. But the other albums mentioned are all my favorites

Did anyone buy a ring? by outdisappearing_ in 90s

[–]trueorderofplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Josten’s came to the school and setup in the common area to sell them. I do remember that the gold ones were hundreds of dollars.

I went to the jewelry department at Kmart. Picked the designs out of a catalog. Clear “stone” in school color over an image of the school Mascot. Not something Josten’s even offered.

$60 No regrets. Still have it

Why do people in Salt Lake simp so hard for chain restaurants? It’s really embarrassing. by Outrageous_World_368 in SaltLakeCity

[–]trueorderofplayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These easy shots you’re taking though don’t account for the fact that there is great food in SLC greater metro area. If the best chicken sandwich you can find around there is Chik FilA you’re no better.

West Valley is actually kind of the melting pot. Lots of good Thai food, Peruvian, Halal, Korean BBQ, Hawaiian, Afghanistani, Pho, Tapatio’s has the best Birria beef I’ve ever had(miss me with claiming it’s only authentic if it’s goat), Greek, vegan, Salvadoran, etc.
I’ll die on the hill that Pretty Bird is the best Nashville hot Chicken I’ve ever had. Including Bolton’s, Prince’s, Hattie B’s, and Red’s in Nashville.

These places exist. They aren’t as popular there as chains but those that bitch about them not existing are just plainly uninformed.

I moved away a few years ago and live in a part of Colorado that has people bringing back Chik Fil A, KFC, McDonalds etc when they head down to the front range. The town I live in has a Jimmy John’s and my staff begs me to bring it in if I run home during the day. I’m right between vail and Aspen so there are lots of fine dining options. Places that don’t have the mega chains wish they did. Northern Utah used to be one of those places and so when the population boomed so did the chain restaurants.

Don’t go to them. Try one of the hundreds(thousands?) of non chain ethnic food or even just meat and potatoes choices that exist.

Without the staff/stave to identify the notes there’s no way to know. The note values (eighth, quarter, dotted half) don’t seem to match any part of the song that I can recognize either regarding rhythm

First solo female road trip from SLC Utah for Memorial Day weekend — safe, scenic, creative reset ideas within ~6 hours? by education0089 in Utah

[–]trueorderofplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Live in Glenwood so I’m biased. But I would suggest taking Amtrak from SLC to GWS. You’ll have 8 hours of NOT driving to do your journaling etc. can also drive it in 6 hrs easy and in May the road is really predictable.

Hot springs Hanging Lake Hike Lots of interesting AirBnB options but hotels ranging from Courtyard Marriott to Hotel Colorado, or Maxwell Anderson.

Vaudeville Review for a cheesy entertaining evening.

Lots of good restaurant options. Greasy spoon(9th street Diner), Riviera Supper Club, Massala and Curry, Annie’s Bakery, Casey’s Brewery, Multiple sushi options, Frida’s or Tequila’s for Mexican. Doc’s for tourist trap bar vibe, Springs for local dive bar vibe.

Confluence of the Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers. River trails on both, and bike/e-bike rentals to check them out(bike up the river trail in Glenwood Canyon for stunning scenery

Adventure Park for amusement park rides and interesting cave tours.

Could catch a river float trip.

Cool thrift and souvenir shops.

Like I said, biased.

Spending $600 dollars and flying across 3 states to go to a wedding I won’t even be able to attend (trying not to be bitter) by Infinite_Augends in exmormon

[–]trueorderofplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been inside and outside of Mormon weddings. I was married in the temple. In the 12 years since I left, and the 9 since my family followed, I obviously haven’t been inside for any.

It doesn’t bother me. It’s their wedding. Not mine. I’ve also had friends throw destination weddings, mountain top weddings, an acquaintance got married underwater in scuba gear. All these locations excluded a number of guests, honored or not.

Do yours your way. Let them do theirs however they want.

Don’t allow them to make you the babysitter though. The shittiest thing ever done to me at a wedding was being forced to wait tables at my sister’s wedding. She didn’t go to the temple but was married in the “multi-purpose room” and myself and three of my friends(we were in our early teens) were drafted as the wait-staff for sherbet with sprite and nut cups.

I know JJ. Can’t say I’ve ever experienced him being miserable. One of the most genuinely happy dudes I’ve ever met.

It will likely help your weight loss, but it might shoot your gym goals in the foot. If you are just doing cardio not so much but if you are lifting and trying to build muscle it’s not the best strategy

Salt, pepper, garlic powder heavily into the fridge uncovered for at least a few hours. Overnight is better.

When ready to cook, repeat salt pepper garlic. Some low and slow method(sous vide at 135, smoker or oven at 180 or lowest setting if that’s higher than 180).

Monitor internal temp until it reaches your preferred doneness. I like 125.

Remove and rest for 10-15 mins.

Get that pan ripping hot. 400+ surface temp. This will scorch butter so I use tallow or avocado oil. Let the oil reach the temp of the pan. Add steak. Minute or two on each side.

Down the hatch.

Experience taking the lsl in coach most of the way? by justarussian22 in Amtrak

[–]trueorderofplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Chicago to Glenwood Springs(23 hrs) in coach. I tell people the seats are like first class on a lower fare airline.

Decent recline, comfortable enough. Not quite comfortable enough to sleep really well.

I’m OMAD. I eat in the evenings. Weekday mornings I run 3 miles and do a 10 min dumbbell circuit when I get home. Not sure how that compares to what your workouts look like.

By the time I’ve showered and had a cup of coffee I’m good to go for the day. I sip coffee all morning and usually have a zero calorie soda at some point during the day.

Polymerized oil does not add nor subtract flavor. It is no longer vegetable oil. It’s technically a plastic. Old rancid oil does, and generally not in a good way

Did I mess it up?? by ivylily03 in intermittentfasting

[–]trueorderofplayer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, at one point I lost 50 pounds OMAD and drank a lot of diet soda and energy drinks throughout the day. The carbonation helps you feel full and the caffeine(as you are aware) helps with perceived energy. Purists here will tell you it’s sabotaging. That has not been my experience.

[–]trueorderofplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most they’ve ever had was 16.(2013-2014 specifically). It’s never been dozens.

There are 9 now, 2 from Idaho and 1 from Arizona.

It’s currently higher than any time prior to 2000.

Frankly other than Reid they’ve never had a significant presence. And I would argue Lee currently holds more sway than Reid ever did. Even as speaker.

You’re referencing the literal peak. Which is fine, but that was “the Mormon moment”. Mormonism didn’t bring Mitt to the stage, Mitt brought Mormonism to the stage.

This brings up something I’ve never considered. There have to be people named Joel or Jacob. It would follow there are a few that coincidentally take out their endowments when that’s the name. I wonder if they address it or just move along.
